That pup seems to genuinely valued and will being given every chance to develop into a healthy, happy adult. Probably wont be swapped or sold on in 12 month time. A nice thread.

Yes, hence the dog shampoo. Why take 3 bottles into the shower?

"I'll have a Babycham". Always hated this, even the expensive stuff, but for some reason developing a taste for it. Good for you as well, lower alcohol than the reds I usually drink and must be less calories as half of it is just bubbles.

I would love to be able to say that these were a clever find, originals or even limited edition prints, but just mass produced copies. I am still happy to hang them on the wall though.

I have not travelled as extensively as some commenting and outside of the British Isles it has been mostly as a tourist. But my favourite, after Newcastle, is Rome. Not so much the scum element lurking in the background but the history and art. Rome that is not Newcastle .

Better still bury it in a badger sett... on 2nd thoughts, digging the hole probably more risky than having a dead body to dispose of.

When people state that greyhounds are not bright I often wonder what tasks they have been given to do and are found to be mentally deficient? Of course such fast, powerful and determined hounds are not ideal for many tasks in the field when a slower, but quick enough and less driven, but driven enough dog will catch and be more suitable than a pure greyhound. But that's nothing to do with a dog's IQ. Even said, coursing greyhounds would sometimes learn to anticipate a hares movement or hold back and let their "opponent" do the pressing but make the kill. Not a desired trait in a coursing greyh

Combat Rock, The Clash. Some young lass on the radio informed me that 40 years ago today it was released so played it on getting home. 40 years?...how did that happen? Police & Thieves still resonates but not so much, maybe getting old and comfortably boring is not such a bad thing.

An early stamp, as I am sure you are already aware, pre - 1930's at least? Not in any of the old books that I have but it would certainly go on my wall!

No matter how much work the sire and dam have seen they are working terriers. Can end in tears when people get them as pets. Seen a few people recently even struggling with their Poodle/Cocker Spaniel crosses once the Covid working from home thing ended. Working bred terriers are not easy to live with if kept as pets. The Lakeland sire is a very smart looking terrier though.

You have to remember we had no internet and only a few tele channels back then. Having said that, some of the writers weren't too bad.

That's the dog I am thinking of but I may be wrong regarding the breeding. Long time ago.

A bit surreal last night. Went to see Jeff Beck at Sage Gateshead and some bloke the spiting image of Johnny Depp stole the show.

I used to read the Shooting News at the time and was Les White's white dog not a fox terrier x border collie? Seen it once when he had it with him at terrier show held at Fox and hounds pub in Whitley Chapel. Enjoyed his articles with accounts of just mooching about after bunnies with a dog and ferrets. His articles seemed to change a bit when he got a Bedlington and became a bit of an expert.

In regard to a dog knowing what you're after, what the intended quarry is in a particular place on a particular day, couldn't agree more... but try and tell that to the young folk today, and they won't believe you ?

This terrier was a more than a competent ferreting dog. Not a job he was bred or really trained for but just took to everything. Particularly useful in places where rabbits were thin on the ground, or rather the easy ones had long since been hunted out. If you can't find them you cant catch them. Would dearly loved to have put him over a whippet but never got around to it. Carried on grafting until the age of 12, above ground anyway, and even then wasn't showing signs of slowing down much until the big C got him. A very happy 12 years.

To be fair to Raheem Sterling he has certainly upped his game since his Liverpool playing days.

Spent a pleasant day drinking at the marina a few week's ago, not too bad. Called into a few ropy places on the way back to the station mind but at least they are trying.

I posted these pictures before on another thread, just checked and it was Sept' 2017. Seems like yesterday. I like them though. 1 of those times when you come across something at work that is far more interesting than the thing that you meant to be doing.

People who phone an Indian takeaway and wait until their call has been answered before asking the whole f***ing family what they want.

I came across a similar type recently being walked by an elderly couple. A dog I would estimate at 12" 14/16 lb, very Sealyham/Russell in appearance. Turns out it was a KC Jack Russell and they paid £1600 for it. It was a nice terrier, but not £1600 nice.

A nice old fashion type of Russell. Good to see they still exist.
