would it be possible to put a small window in the building? even with a light in there, there really is no replacement to proper daylight and a bit of fresh air

i'm using a pair of the large, clear red top bottles. i did have one leak for a day or two (the ferts had somehow wedged a bit of wood shaving into the front ball bearing!) but don't have the issues i did when i attempted an open bowl. for the price, they can be treated as disposable items to be honest and its probably worth holding onto a new one as a spare in case of any breakages.

i had one rabbit in two nets last week if that counts! unfortunately they were bisley ones i was gifted so they are still 'as one' with each other! the rabbit hit the net on the way out of one hole then back netted itself in the next hole (and stitched the two nets together somehow in the 5 seconds it took me to get over to it and neck him!)

i'm sending my hob, groot, to have the snip on thursday. with the missus being in the vet trade i get decent prices so i thought i may as well snip the big fella's little fella rather than pay for jabs each year which gives me the option to breed a litter in a couple of years if i want to bring in a foreign hob. all 3 of them (him, his sister plus another jill from a different litter) are all this years young and i was curious about whether or not he would still need to be seperated if he was snipped or can i just leave him in there with them?

I got my first ones this year and they were a tad unruly to begin with. I persevered with them nipping and trying to bite me for a week or so then resorted to bitter apple spray (amazon) and just coated my hands before handling them. They aren't keen on it so if they tried to bite they backed off a bit and I just pushed my finger I to their mouths as they backed off to reinforce the bad behaviour for when I didn't use the spray. This method only took another week or so before they were happy with quick handling sessions. I probably stopped using it after just 2 weeks. Perse

If it's the last shape navara be very careful. The engines were extremely prone to crank / bearing issues. There was a firm doing fixes for them and a lot got sorted. Search navara or 4x4 forums for what to look out for. Newer ones can have issues too. My neighbours new shape one seized it's engine at -12 degrees (dealer serviced a month beforehand) and Nissan wouldn't entertain replacing the motor under warranty.

gents, i bought a pack of batteries on ebay for the collars and they are LR936/LR45 AG9/1.55v the paperwork from deben suggests various other types but not this specific type. are they safe to use in the collar or should i buy alternatives?

I got a dozen nets from the bloke I bought my pheasants off, made using butchers string and they are pretty good and don't really knot up. I also inherited 10 thin Bisley style ones and spent an hour untangling them (despite them being individually wrapped and sat in a carrier bag hanging up undisturbed in a shed for about 15 years!) All sorted now though. I found the easiest way to do it was lay the net on a table and work the tied sections down over the bottom ring. Persevere with it and untwist the bottom half as it's needed and it soon comes free.

as said, unless you drive like a nun you would be lucky to push 25 / 28mpg from a disco. there are a couple of mods (up the boost & fueling, egr bypass etc.) that will make the engine rev and work more freely so you don't need to push it as hard to get the same level of performance. my old one would do a shave over 30mpg on a run but short sub 5 mile journeys probably averaged 26ish. on the other hand, most of the 200 & 300 engined ones are now 'dissolving' underneath so be very careful of inner arches, sills, seatbelt mount points, boot floor, chassis, body mounts etc. regardles

finally got out for the first time with the two jills today. i gave up with the smaller of the two as she slipped the collar twice and once i wrangled it onto the slightly larger one it stayed put but i weas concerned it was maybe a tad tight. so, how tight is too tight for a collar? got the first one of my career in the bag after less than a minute of chucking her into the second set of holes i tried so i'm pretty chuffed and now extremely eager to get out with the big hob and the other jill to give them a taste of kicking bunny a few more times this year so i will be ready to go wh

Butchering A .410 For My Nephew?
Jax13 replied to air gun ant's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
the problem with a lot of 410's is they are full choke, obviously this means small patterns which are harder to learn with. maybe keep your eyes open for something else - i saw a double trigger non ejector o/u 16bore a month or two back, in nice condition too and it was only £175 (nearly bought it myself had i not been walking out with an o/u lincoln 12 and a wmr!) something like that chopped sensibly (so the chopped bit can be stuck back on again) would last him through till his first ticket easily and also be easier to sell on if it wasnt wanted where a shortened single 410 could be tri -
sak mods actually work better if they are a bit dirty. only 3 bits so they are dead easy to strip and you can clean them in running water from the hot tap then leave on the radiator to dry. i used one briefly on a hmr and it worked to a point, but to be honest with the crack of the round it didn't make a huge difference (it was noticeable though) when i switched to a .17 specific dm80 mod but the crack is louder than the muzzle blast anyway so its a bit irrelevant. i'm currently using a wmr without anything on the end and to be honestly, because i don't really take more than a shot or

Is that a royal mail bag?

The old terrier ratting trick is a two stroke blower, chainsaw or strimmer motor running a rich, smokey mixture and blast the holes with it. Not sure if it would work as well on a rabbit Warren compared to a rat nest though. There's only one way to know for sure!

Love it! I was going to make a bigger box for my big, fat headed hob but knowing I've got at least one spare tool box lying under the workshop bench means all I need is a length of seat belt from the local scrappers for a strap and I'm sorted!

I had a pair of rats in a fenn trap a year or two ago, one from each side. First time I'd seen a double but proof smoked bacon is irresistible to Roland! I've always found something like a slice of a Cadbury double decker good for mouse traps because they can't get the bugger off the spike!

the hob ive got drags dead bunnies all over the hutch... not had him working yet but i'd imagine he would try and carry / drag a dead one (or live) to where he wanted it.

I am feeding mainly whole carcas rabbit but leaving biscuits down for when the rabbit has run out or if i can't get any for a day or two. currently, (and its only their first bag) i'm feeding james wellbeloved but was wondering if there is much difference between the brands. i noticed pets at homes own brand food is pretty much half the price of james but if its no good i'll avoid it. anybody got anything good or bad to say about it? what do you feed?

ive tried 'wringing them out' a few times and only ever manage to crack their back and get a lovely squelching noise from them! is there more of a trick to it than pushing everything down and keeping going?

ive just started to use wmr having owned hmr in the past (i didnt really get along with it tbh). for me, having used just one box of 30gn jhp's (got some vmax to play with next) I can see it will have its place in the cabinet next to my (prefered) .22lr for when i want to stretch the range out a bit or if there is the chance i might need to sort out a fox or two. without stretching things too far (yet) its a good, solid 150yd rifle all day long. the ability to run heavier bullets for fox is a big advantage, i realise hmr is now acceptable on fox in a lot of counties but i'd feel more

Alternative Finder Anybody Tried One Of These
Jax13 replied to ferretracer's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
its possibly the exact same unit - if deben outsource their manufacturing which is highly likely. there is something in copyright law which gives a manufacturer the right to use certain technology after a set time I remember a case with carbon fibre mountain bike frames where 12 or 18 months after release the cheaper brand who were making the frames were knocking the same bike out for about £800 less than the brand who actually came up with the design & specs. hopefully this thing will work just the same and when word spreads deben will be forced to sort their act out. there are l -
been watching a few tutorial videos on purse net making and i've got the theory sorted - just need to get kitted up with what i need to make them. i have a small question though, which i may have answered myself. if you go for rows of (for example) 8,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,14,14,14,13,12,11,10,9,8,8 what benefit would this have over just doing (for example) 12 or 14 knots square? is there a benefit to the net being slightly more diamond shaped or is it just the most economical (and quicker) way of making a net that is just as functional? as a further quesion, if i were to come acro

i got my first ferrets this week (yesterday in fact) and its my intention to feed a varied diet consisting mainly of rabbit and a complete dry food but i was curious about feeding other things to supplement their diet a little. i have a hog roast business and as such, most weekends i have leftover roast pork that i can no longer eat (too much of a good thing!) and was wondering whether the ferrets would A, get any benefit from it from a nutritional point of view and B, just have it as a treat once or twice a week (i'm thinking i could feed it alongside the complete food for a couple of day
