  1. If you still need a thin shaft find a piece of well seasoned Holly, try a local stickmaker if you have one.
  2. Lash out 7 quid and get a trickler ! I farted about for ages tapping powder into my scale before i bought a trickler, it's much easier.
  3. I'm only a part time trapper, more for fun and only on the land round my workshop. I was going out today but the wind and sleet put paid to that ! This is just a small section of the three feilds near me. Any idea how many moles it would take to create the workings in this small area?
  4. Is it just me or my area but does there seem to be an awefull lot of moles active this year? I wonder if the mild winter has helped them.
  5. I made one of those, it worked pretty good but the wood got a bit soggy so I bought a plastic one.
  6. Does the larger hole go up or down? The few I've made I've had varying success with the noise i get out of them.
  7. Yep, I've done that Drilled them all out at 2mm and chamfered the insides, worked fine. I made up a little tool to hold the cases without deforming them as I drilled.
  8. Don't forget to let us know what sort of responses you get.
  9. If it's the guy near me he is very good but I hope you don't want it this season !
  10. Send me a messege and I can pop some in the post for you, at the moment I have a couple of dozen.
  11. I have a Bretton .410 moderated for rabbits. This afternoon I weas potting a few clays for fun and some folks in a building 50 yards away didn't hear it !
  12. Elloit - I,m still slave to it's idiosyncracies !
  13. When I put in for a one for one variation I still had to have the new rifle on my certificate before swapping the old one. My Firearms dept. did not insist that I got rid of my old one right away, gave me time to advertise it, just ask.
  14. The same happens with my .22 Hornet. After cleaning it takes about four rounds to settle in. If I know when I'm going to go out with it after cleaning I shoot a few rounds and either leave it or just run a dry patch through it. I believe the modern powders are non corrosive so it shouldn't do it any harm leaving it overnight. I do remove the moderator though.
  15. Don't be put of by your friends Hornet, a bit of a fiddle and adjusting loads can produce this!
  16. Thanks for the info. My query was because if a hare popped up I could dot it without having to look over my shoulder !
  17. Having been in the military and then lived abroad for a few years I've rather lost track of some of the UK regulations. Have "game licences" gone the way of the Dodo? We used to have to purchase a seperate licence for pheasants, hare etc. many years ago.
  18. Enough to frighten a country lad !!
  19. The bit about impressions in the wall of the mod is quite strange, never seen that before. Could it have been corrosion or pehaps someone has shot a powerful centrefire through it ? The holes in the baffle are not filled when new.
  20. I've not long renewed mine, you have to jump through all the hoops again, including a new photo. Referees just fill in a section of the form. You are also asked for confirmation of at least one area of land where you have permission to shoot - but you are not restricted to that one area. I believe it is policy for you to have a visit on renewal, ask then for an "open" condition.
  21. Is it Christmas so soon again ? I must rush out and do some panic buying !
  22. Matty - I was laid in bed last night wondering if anyone had ever done a thesis on the psychiatry of Internet forum users. The more I thought about it them more complicated it became !
