BRNO 22LR Barrel Shortening
jamie g replied to wabbit slayer's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i would have it cut. as a vermin rifle there is no need for a long barrel. it's just more weight and length. its not needed -

i think the fox pro would be better. but the handy thing about the one we where on about is you can pop it in your pocket. better for mouching about with. where the fox pro is more a sit up and wait caller. inless you shoot from 4x4 then it wont matter

mike you got to know when to be happy. if your getting 1/4 at 100 yards at 3500 fps or 1/2 at 100 yards at 3800 fps then I would take the 3800 fps load any day reason being 1/2 is more then enough for vermin shooting. I was speaking to Alan the guy that has the longrange shooting vids on youtube the other day. and well we all like very tiny groups he said is it really needed for normal vermin shooting ranges. even a rifle doing 1 inch groups you could head shoot a rabbit at 200 yards. we agreed if you can get the tiny groups then that is a bonus. is it really needed ? maybe

i have had a good number of scopes and the zeiss victory 6x24x56 is way ahead of the nightforce imo under the lamp. my mate had the 5.5x22x50 nf and we where out one night under the lamp. and my victory was alot better. he sold it soon as he see a ziess victory come up. he was luck as he fell on the new fl glass model zeiss. mine is the older model zeiss. we havent compared them yet to see if there is much difference in the none fl glass to the fl glass yet don't get me wrong the nf is a cracking scope. it has lots of moa for long range. the target turrets are dead repeatable. and the

The mini colibri is a very good caller and nice and compact. as with all fox callers sometimes it works well on them other times it dont. you have to mix it up abit and try different calls. as for battery life. i have found it last pretty long

great buy and very good mod also. i have a m595 that was 222 and now is 17 fireball. great action very smooth and good trigger. simple safety which locks trigger and bolt. also got a stainless m695 coming tomorrow same as m595 but a long action instead of short action. £325 ! a true bargain. i know where there is a righthanded mcmillan stock for a m595 action. its brand new and would be cheaper then buying one from a shop -

Hi Jamie - I have 20 or so once fired .222 norma cases here and a few .22 hornet if they are of any help to you. Yours free if you want them Regards Graham thanks Graham that would be good good mate shall i come pick them up one evening

for the price of them the privi is worth a try. i shot them in my 222 and found them not so good. then i tried some more and they where better. imo there to inconsistent from batch to batch. some sounded louder then others also and a higher poi which lead me to believe some had more charge in them !

i would want to be able to slide a piece of a4 paper up it if not a bit thicker. as when your on a bipod the weight of the rifle can push down on the stock a bit. alos with heat and then cold the stock will expand a little anyway. so make sure you have enough gap. like the guy above said. do a little at a time. and dont forget to re seal the stock when you have finished. as you dont want wet and damp getting into the wood. this will make it swell else.

they seam good rifles from all the people that have commented on them on different forums. ive never shot one but handles a couple in the gun shops. trigger would need a bit of adjusting as it seams pretty heavy. also I don't like the plastic stocks that are on them. they look like they flex a bit to me. still your going for a wooden thumbhole so that wont matter to you. most rifles these days will do 1 inch with factory ammo and 1/2 with reloaded ammo at 100 yards. so I wouldn't worry about that. are you planing on buying the rifle new ? reason I ask is there are a lot of rifles second ha

i was after a 25/06 but couldnt find a good one anywhere being lefthanded. i wanted a right hand bolt action. but with ambi stock. that ruled out a sako 75. and i couldnt find a good tikka m690 or m695. in the end i changed the slot and got a 270 stainless m695. cheap rifles in 270 winchester and its got a good choice of bullets. if i cant get on with it i will rebarrel it in future to 25/06

17 cf rifles just isnt that popular over here and have never been a big seller for the gunmakers. you do get the die hard 17 cf fans though. i use to see people rave about them and guesssed what it was all about. but now from using the fb abit i can see why they love them. min recoil, not to loud, very flat shooting, im hitting 4033 fps average on 18 grains of powder and 20 vmax. and very safe compared to other cf rounds. what is not to like
