I don't think that anyone is taking an 'incredibly moral stance' in calling Johnson for what he is, or for questioning some of the posts which have attempted to play down or even excuse what he did. Do you think a 27 year old father trying to get a fifteen year old, or even a sixteen year old girl into bed is okay..., because it certainly comes across as though you do? The fact that he's a well known footballer makes it of public interest and ensures significant media coverage. It doesn't make the crime any different in my view. Barry Hines, who wrote the book 'A Kestrel for a Knave', which was the basis for Ken Loach's 'Kes', has died. I first saw the film probably late 70's as a young lad and it fired a fascination and love for the Kestrel and raptors in general that I still have today. Thanks for that Mr Hines - and RIP

Totally agree. The traits that are coveted in some breeds are just selectively bred body mutations and are tantamount to cruelty. Time the KC tore up the standards and started reversing some of these trends, and breed out the squashed faces, the sloping backs and the rolls of skin. I think if my 15 year old daughter got knocked up by a lad of 16 or 17 say, it might be against the law but I reckon I'd say they were both at least partly responsible for their actions, and bollock them both for fcuking up. If she was 16, and 'legal' and I caught a 27 year old footballer and father to a baby sniffing around her, only after one thing, I'd break both his fcuking legs. It's not just about what the law says.., it's about what's decent. Johnson is a dirty fcuking nonce, plain and simple. Anyone who tries to defend him or excuse him in any way is just as bad in my book.

Just catching up with this thread. Got to say I'm staggered by the amount of people who've attempted to play down what Adam Johnson done. Would you in all honesty be okay if it was your own 15 year old daughter? Maybe not that surprised by the characters that are defending him mind. Nonce cnuts.

Looking to buy a new 7/8# floating line and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. Bought a SA sharkskin line last year and, whilst it casts fine, I can't stand the noise it makes when I'm stripping it so it's got to go.

It was Chevinfox that dug the book out..., he's the bookworm. Good stuff though. I for one have never really associated birds with a good sense of smell, although it seems that some do.

I could only guess but as carrion is a staple for most corvids why wouldn't they have developed a nose for finding it. Different league maybe but the turkey vulture has an incredible sense of smell. A lot of stuff finally appearing in mainstream media now which will wake Joe public up to what the RSPCA is now all about. I feel sorry for the genuine folks who will have worked for/collected for/donated to an organisation which done & still does great work in the rescue and rehabilitation of animals. Time they threw the cuckoos out the nest and got back to what they're good at.
