    As tragic as that is do you think this is a case of going over the top with a solution to prevent more incidents,similar to the way they tightened the rules after hungerford? As an edit just looked this up and remember it now,seems they are bowing to public pressure a bit,I understand the anger and people think by doing this they are preventing another incident but is this a viable solution?

    Why are they bringing this in,is there that much air gun crime? Are air rifles a cause or part of a notable problem? Sorry if this has been asked or answered but is it really as simple as making money? Where would the money even go,back into countryside management or a back pocket?

    Good luck with it,just don't think these things need over complicating so start small and go from there,I mostly lamp and only have basic kit but get the odd one! I must admit I am looking at nv more and more but most of us use a gun mounted lamp and have for years so it must be producing results...

    Sounds a right ball ache this lot! I thought it was the end when they stopped mail order air rifles and stuff! My question/contribution is do you apply and be vetted like the current fac,meaning some convictions rule you out,or just apply with your serial numbers and have it granted like a rod licence?

    Good night to be out when the weather is like that,no moon and wind is good lamping weather,dulls the senses sort of when they sit tight,can't smell or hear too well I think so its a good opportunity to get the better of them as you did and get a few in the bag,assuming you can shoot in the wind!!

    Before this gets too complicated get out with what you have,should be fine for lamping rabbit,the stock mounted switch is the key here,very helpful and needs to be gotten used to,you'll soon get used to lamping,when they are spooked etc,lamping with a dog would have given you the basics so now you have your set up go out and get used to it,range estimation is different at night so that needs to be allowed for,let us know how it goes with some pics...

    My shooting buddy had one of these rifles in .22 and it was a pleasure to use,good to bag a brace of woodies,was the wind bad when you were out? What sort of ranges did you take them at? And I've not been out for a while so not really noticed how many woodies are about!
