  1. I know what you mean shes a really short legged bitch but quite long compared to her height. The guy who bred our lighter brindle dog also bred the terrier. He started by getting her grandfather from a traveller site and now has a little pack of them. Nice little dog very obedient. Me and saskia think shes now ready for a day out ratting so fingers crossed we can get her out soon just looking for some permission.
  2. Unfortunately not no, there's a few lads that go on the land next to my permission but never seen them at it. Though it is something that me and my other half are really interested in. We've spoke about getting a hawk but unfortunately haven't got the space for it.Or the time unfortunatly this lot take up all our free time
  3. I know this is in the wring place but just wanting a few quick answers from lads in the know. Iv just been looking into buying raw minced meat for my 2 lurchers. He says the meat comes in lb bags at 60p each and he reckons with a bit of veg rice/pasta thrown in a lb bag a day each will do my dogs. There both 23 1/2 inch. What do you lads think?
  4. Went out yesterday and got 7 I think pretty quickly and we gutted them before moving to the next spot and all does were full. We called it a day after.
  5. Could it be a knocked once the swellings gone bone will grow around the joint. My dog suffers with this.
  6. Tip for anyone from Barnsley never tell a farmer your from Barnsley because I can garuntee some idiot from Barnsley has already poached the farm or done something naughty. Just tell them a village in South yorkshire it worked for me
  7. Yeah thats what I was thinking with them fighting with eachother etc they were just in that frame of mind everytime I stepped into their space.showing Domenance I guess.
  8. I had a similar problem with 3 big hobs I got from an auction. All 3 were huge and I mean almost as big as cats and nasty as hell. Anyway I thought I could tame the beasts and find them nice pet homes. Basically as long as all 3 were together picking them up was hard work but the second I split all 3 litter brothers up there seemed to be a Sudden change and all 3 turned out nice. Maybe due to them being with my tame ferrets possible just because they had been split up. Maybe if you give this a try for a week if you can it may help. If you do id be interested to see what happens just incase it
  9. This is a thing that bugs me on pets for home there under rodents. And all the people that compare them to rats. It angers me cos my ferrets are as tame as my dogs.
  10. Well good news and really happy with my vet. Hes a top bloke. I tried my best to get the bone out but I was scared of using too much force or hurting him but the vet took one look and popped it clean out first time. We had a good natter about my lurchers and all the rest of it and he gave me a course of antibiotic for him to prevent infection. And for my trouble he charged me £12.50. Id say thats a result. I reckon a vets for pets would be a minimum 25quid consultation fee plus another 25quid on top for the antibiotics
  11. Just gone down to my hutches today and my big working hob couldnt close his mouth. I opened his mouth up and theres a solid hard white lump on his tooth. Probably a bit of bone that hes got stuck. Only problem is hes chewed and chewed and its embedded into his gum and cut his tongue and mouth etc. Just hoping my vet can sort him out iv tried to remove it but its stuck solid. Fingers crossed
  12. Iv got 2 ultrafire torchess with different cree bulbs and both are spot on for shooting with and dog walking etc but as for lamping their useless. If someone could correct me id definatly give a good cree torch a go. But unfortunately the 2 I have used has not had a good enough range. They would often pick bunnies up but with I seconds the dog and bunny would be out of range. Which is dangerous for a start but not practical.
  13. The head looks more like a polecats and the feet are definatly bigger and stronger than a ferret. Matbe with the jet black fur could it be some kind of polecat x ferret.
  14. a lad near me has a dalmation x lurcher that was an accidentle breeding ugliest thing iv ever seen.
  15. Are geese fair game for lurchers or must they be shot and retrieved? Never thought about this one at all. Just curious after seeing the picture with one. I always thought legal game where pests like rabbits and rats. And Im sure geese would be game. Genuine question sorry if it sounds thick.
  16. Iv been out with the air rifle shooting them all last week and their everywhere always in 2s and 3s and 70% iv seen have been on the ground.
  17. Il be watching it on 4od when I finish work. I know it will wind me up bug im curious. Just like the last show I scunthorpe makes you realise where all the tax you pay goes.
  18. I went and thought it was decent im definatly looking forward to the next one.
  19. Iv found with my big hob especially and some ferrets from the past that when you pick them up that they like to mouth your hand and this is not actually a bite. Il be honest when I first got the ferrets this scared me a little to the point I hesitated to pick them up or maybe even snatched at them. This has been the cause of every bite iv had. And no I find it best to just gently pick the ferret up and let them mouth you. I soon learnt what was play and what wasnt. If they mouthed hard or I thought it was a bite then id simply shove my fingers to the back of their throat and say no. Atb Blake
  20. I really like the look of both the lurchers. Good looking rabbit dogs.
  21. Someone in the pub cooked squirel patty last new year I didnt try it but a few said it was nice.
  22. I only got wagg because a bloke I know has always used it for his whippets and swears by it to be fair it probably is good and the the same nutrition as most more expensive brands. I just find the biscuits a little dry and my dogs wont eat it.
