  1. I hear a peregrine has also been confirmed in Dumfries and Galloway
  2. I wouldn't say very very cheap, I would say sensibly priced for a change, my mate just sold an immaculate full set up for £700, perhaps we are just conditioned into paying too much for things now. Bunnyblatter, how much you after for the wildcat ?
  3. Two wild widgeon have been confirmed as having the H5N8 so far, very very bad deal as it is the very first time we have ever found it in the wild bird population.
  4. The majority of avian diseases can be attributable to wild birds, especially migratory ones, thus any seclusion zones are pointless. No, In previous outbreaks the spread has always been east west across the globe. Transfer then was on lorries from Poland bringing the infection on crates and rubbish. This outbreak in France came from Poland ! Mallards don't fly north in December Mostly bio security is the biggest problem.
  5. Is a poor show that's a fact, I know it's worried a lot of folk around here, and rightly so as most of the keepers I know are unable to house the flock 24/7 and even more unlikely to be able to net pens for them, so in reality they cannot do much if anything about it. The mockery is, how many folk keep a couple of chickens in the garden and don't even know this is happening, I was speaking to the manager at a day care centre farm last week and he had no idea of the outbreak.
  6. Most of them will already be going through the slaughter process if not already dead, the only ones really affected will be the free range flocks, and mostly they will now be kept indoors. Having said that, I shouldn't be at all surprised to see costs go up.
  7. It was 5000 birds affected, which means everything within 3km will be destroyed.
  8. Never gonna happen pal, it's human nature to be greedy and corrupt
  9. I'm lucky in respect I have a 6 acre orchard with plums, apples and pears, the pigs love them and it really makes them taste superb. I have tried artichokes, swedes, turnips, all sorts, they seem to be not so interested in it and prefer brambles and general rubbish !
  10. She will always need me .....who's going to drive her there and bring the game home .. Just messing, I have seen how much that dog adores you and she would be lost without you., but I do think she could probably drive !
  11. Nice one Rich, she has settled down nicely now, all you gotta do is teach the dog to use the rifle and you won't be needed !
  12. I was told by a bloke I used to shoot with that he kept his rifles in the same cabinet as his sons, they were both fac holders, but did not have the others rifles on the slot, they had to use a trigger lock on All rifles, I guess it was like, your both trusted as you both have tickets, but the trigger lock is so you can't use the other persons rifle without thier consent (unlocking the trigger guard).
  13. Chemical resin and threaded bar, drill the concrete a couple mill bigger than the bar, just a few pumps of Ken-fix, push threaded bar into it and tap it home (put a nut on top so it don't screw the threads up) leave it a few hours and rock solid, we dowel underpinning sections like this (just done two sides of an 8 storey block of flats)
  14. % hatch rate is good for that source.
  15. Direct from the mill mate, I personally use Heygates feeds.
  16. One of my lads has this, when I wanted to insure him on my vans it made sod all difference, but I have heard it's supposed to be a good thing usually.
  17. I been through the mill with insurance companies, been ripped off and fell out with a few. I now have a fleet policy, all my vans and trucks, any driver, all fully comp for £1800 a year, I just added a £30k brand new truck to it, cost me a full £17.50p for the year ! Now made the Mrs a director of my business, put her car on it, cost £10 for the new paperwork, that's it.
  18. As above, I would get some grabber at's
  19. Bloody good idea pal, I might look into it a bit more as was considering something along those lines last year.
  20. Expensive, I pay around a fiver a bag for high protein grower pellets, sow and weaker about the same, if I buy loose bulk then it works out around £4-15 a bag, sounds to me like your paying through the nose, especially as I get free delivery on orders 4 ton and over.
