There is something about the sea that draws me in, I absolutely love it. I think its the fact that it is a place that you just cant control, you have to work with it, not against it. Its humbling, the size and power of it and it demands respect, take it for granted and its game over. I have almost drowned a few times, once in a stream as a kid (does that count ), once as a teenager and once a couple of years ago when bodyboarding in really bad or good conditions, depending on your point of view . The tide was up and against the sea wall, I was being tumbled on the sea floor like being in a was

Some ancient people believed in multi dimensional existence and for years it was considered a primitive belief, now science thinks that a multiverse is a real possibility as well as time travel and wormhole travel. I think the Jury's out and anything is possible...................... but then again I believe in Bigfoot so what the hell do I know One of my favourite one liners................." there is more in heaven and earth than in the imaginings of man". Lets not get started on the ocean, I saw a programme the other day and on its very first dive in one tiny part of the ocean, this unmann

Record Tuna Fish From Scarboro In The Late 1920S 30S

They will still be out there all right The great white that was heading over this way wasn't coming for no reason, we have seals and tuna, depending on the sharks size, two of their favourite dinners Still a lot to learn about the migrations of marine apex predators -

In an ideal world, I would love to see all the species that have declined at the hands of man back in the country side, the problem is that we don't live in an ideal world and eco systems move on, the problem is that we deal with eco systems looking at them from our point of view and even with the best intentions, that is in the very short term. I think the conversation movement is very well intentioned with a desire to undo the damage done but systems will find their balance after species decline and when they do a reintroduction in a way that we think is best can have many unforeseen effects -
If he is cutting his feet every time you take him out for a stroll, I would say that his feet definitely need some hardening. Start doing some road work but easy does it at first. There are products available to help protect dogs feet such as paw wax etc, having never used them myself I am not really in a position to recommend them, but they are available nonetheless. Conditioning the feet is as important as conditioning the rest of the dog, take it slowly, be patient and the feet will get there

I think sometimes you just have to go with the flow, adapt and survive the best you can. Most politicians are liars and those that aren't don't normally get to the main positions of power, that's just how it works. Tony Ben and Enoch Powell, political giants both, worlds apart in their views but men of principle, a rare thing in politics. As for history, its written by the victors and by the powerful for the powerful, it always has been and always will be, again its just the way it is. WW2 is a classic example, everyone knows Churchill, Montgomery but how many have heard the names of those tha

GTE, the north south divide, Liverpool docks are trying to steal business from the hard working southerners at Southampton Seriously though, its good that the marine industry is thriving in this country, oh yeah I forgot, Portsmouth is downsizing. The sea is our biggest asset, whether Southampton, Liverpool or Portsmouth or even, dare I say it, a Scottish port are doing well, its all good for me, I am British, concentrating on divides and differences just makes success more difficult

Like NEWKID, I wrote to him as a kid asking about working with animals and he wrote back to me also. At show and tell in junior school I took in my treasured Life on Earth book every time, with the odd millennium falcon and rebel transporter thrown in for good measure The man really is a national treasure and obviously has a real passion in passing on his love of the natural world. He has definitely influenced me, no X-box when I was a kid but that Life on Earth book got read, cover to cover, many times. I still have it in fact

Whatever line of work you are in, now more than ever, there is no such thing as a job for life. You have to adapt to survive, unfortunately some are naturally more adaptable than others. The thing is that resentment in the long run only effects the person doing it, it genuinely destroys lives. Its so easy to live in the past, dulling the memories with alcohol or whatever else. That's not living, that's existing, there is a lot to look forward to and that's it, look forward to We have all had injustices in life, don't let them injustices ruin the rest of your life, live for the now and try to m

Love her or loathe her at least she actually believed in what she was saying unlike todays turncoats who change colours with the wind. I think that this does in some way fall into a geographical divide, almost everyone that I have ever spoken to down here, that being the south coast have good memories of her. You have the military side of things and lets be honest at the time we needed a strong leader in all things military and you had the chance that people had to buy the council house that they were in. This I feel is a debate that will forever roll on because depending were you lived at the

That 7 year old sock maker on 10p a day, that's outrageous......................... If I can get cheaper socks pay him 5p a day These days and probably all the days gone by as well, you have to look after yourself. I have had need of the union before and they are useless management bed fellows. It pays to educate yourself in the various things that you need such as employment law etc. At work recently when redundancy reared its ugly head, you really got to see what people are about, its all self protectionism. There are not many people who would put themselves in a dubious situation for the s

Very nice, she has a knack of capturing the animals spirit/personality, which is what makes or breaks an animal portrait.

I couldn't post pics from photobucket or quote from peoples posts on normal google, but google chrome resolved all the issues. Only problem was some software kept on trying to get in after I loaded up google chrome but the firewalls and stuff knocked them back Am gonna go back to chrome again shortly, this time without the attached piggybacks or trojans or whatever the hell you call em

Slaughterhouses are a way of processing animals for food on a large scale, no more, no less. I have no first hand experience of the goings on in such places so have to relate the deaths of animals to what I do know. Dogs for example, it is well known and common practice that you do not PTS dogs in front of other dogs. We consider emotion unique to us but what are emotions, a set of electrical, chemical and biological reactions that vary to the circumstance we find ourselves in and the way our brains were created during birth and developed through life. We philosophise and wonder at the stars g

No problem Skycat, I have spent many hours searching my soul about an animals level of consciousness. Lets be honest about slaughter houses, the animals must be absolutely terrorfied. I can only try and put myself in the situation, would I rather be hunted by a predator or would I rather be kept in pens and then put in a line with the smell of death around me. And lets not fool ourselves in thinking that animals are simpler than they are, especially mammals. They dream and isn't a dream, the mind processing the sub conscious mind and the sub conscious and the conscious are two sides of the sam

I have two main issues with it. The first is as Paulus has suggested, there should be one rule across the board that works to a best practice. The second is that I personally find it abhorrent for an animals death to be made less humane due to someone's religious beliefs, not down to a circumstance of location or equipment but for the very simple reason of someone's religion. It has been stated on here that the reason these rules were created was all about food spoiling in hot countries and that is correct, why allow a religious belief to extend an animals suffering for no other reason than re

I am beginning to wonder if the plane has been pirated and a media disinformation routine has been initiated. If the phone ringing is genuine then the phones are not 300 meters underwater......................not much of a signal down there

I am concerned that in the 21st century we allow religion to dictate the way an animal is killed, be that religion Islam or any other. If we have the means to reduce suffering whilst killing we have an obligation as informed and moral human beings to do so. I can not believe that in this day and age anyone can believe that their God would insist in prolonging the pain of any creature, this is what happens when people blindly follow the written word without using common sense. We are not a muslim country, if I wanted these outdated and barbaric practices involved in my existence I would emigrat
