  1. Frann I was in the same boat, stopped the ciggies but wanted a few cigars but was worried about starting again. I had a box in the car glovey for ages and then one time while out night fishing I was in the beach buddy, keeping out the wind and rain and thought, its now or never so had a couple. I haven't even had the urge to have any cigarettes since then. Although I do have an e-cig but I've had that since I stopped the smokes.
  2. The earth has an expiry time, the sun will engulf it one day. if humanity survives this far into the future, we will either have to have the technology to stop this or leave the planet.
  3. They do, my wife says my staff looks like a seal pup.........................she's either saying my dog is cute or fat
  4. I remember Hai Karate, I used to use that, my chemistry set and a bottle of bleach to try and make chlorine gas.......................I used to love being a kid
  5. I know it sounds weird and it is, but genuinely true. It was shrunken heads, plural, one head just dosen't do it you know
  6. As Cameron has said on more than one occasion, "were in it together". I feel that the bankers and stock brokers are worthy of the extra attention that they are receiving, it is vital that they can get to their places of employment to diligently ensure that their good work is carried on, in the way that it has been for decades; these people are responsible for making the UK the financial powerhouse that it is today, if the rest of us have to suffer for the benefit of these financial giants then so be it.........................come on people, stop moaning, you've never had it so good..........
  7. When I was a lad, we had a doctor called Dr Badda, he was black and had full on tribal scars, he was the best doctor in the practice, way better than the others. He diagnosed something that the others didn't have a clue about. Years later he actually got done because he wasn't a medical doctor at all, it turned out he had got the paperwork somehow but believe it or not he was actually a "witchdoctor" from his tribe in Africa...............................genuine story and it didn't bother me at all, medical degree or not, he was actually the best doctor that I have ever known I love seals, wh
  8. I don't know about anyone else, but I was told from a boy onwards, never, ever leave any dog alone with a baby. Its one of the golden rules, babies make strange noises that can cause reactions in dogs, any dog, even the friendly family pet can be triggered by a baby. Leaving any dog alone with a baby is taking a massive risk, setting the baby up to harm and setting the dog up to fail.
  9. You got me ....................................... wrong sex, wrong nationality and most importantly...............wrong bank balance The thing is, when there's a risk in the hunting the respect goes up, you see this in spear fishing, respect for the fish and the hunting environment is paramount, it has to be. Make a mistake, it could be your last. I just think that without the respect, the whole point is lost.
  10. Misrepresentation of hunters by the media..............I agree that does indeed happen, although look through this thread and many others and the ammunition is all there. Being an anti hunting media researcher must be the easiest job in the world. Its about respect as far as I see it. The sad thing is that all those that have the idea that animals are of no consequence and purely exist for the benefit of humanity, actually think that the hunting man has always thought like this, that could not be further from the truth. This attitude in comparison to the history of man is a modern phenomenon,
  11. So we are breeding to keep a strong gene pool but not caring about the individual healthy animal in establishments that insist they are breeding for conservation and species longevity. All very clinical I am sure, but a clear example of how mans intellect has outrun his wisdom. If zoos were breeding for food, or to manipulate genetics to create desired characteristics as in breeds, it would be different, but zoos say they are breeding to ensure species survival, whilst killing a perfectly healthy animal. Also if a healthy animal can be killed, I must think that they are not endangered and if t
  12. Agree with Paulus, it puts the whole reasoning behind zoos in question, are they just collections of animals for our entertainment or are they conservation establishments, captive breeding to maintain the species. Lets be honest, no zoo can replicate the freedom that animals have in the wild so in my opinion if they are just animal collections for entertainment they have no place in the 21st century. Like dolphinariums, it may be nice to see them up close but does that make it right, stress behaviour in zoo kept animals is well documented and if they are only there for entertainment to be cull
  13. If you have a dog that has very little bite inhibition, get a muzzle. Its better to be safe than sorry and be sensible, owning any dog is a serious responsibility but owning one that has a history of biting people or dogs requires a total commitment and is a very serious business. For instance if you know that your dog is very dog aggressive, don't give him the opportunity to attack, get routines in place, before opening the front door, pop a muzzle on and put him in another room, using the safety corridor principle from kennels etc. The most used phrase when a dog bites is " he has never done
  14. It does sound like mange, if it is you need to seek treatment now as if left it will only get worse. Does your dog have a funny smell, mange leads to a vey distinctive smell. To be honest, you need to find out for sure what it is, different parasites, need different treatments and if its mange that's been left for a while, your gonna need POM's (prescription only medicine) to sort it out
  15. Does the front door open on to the street or is there a front garden? Depending on this will depend on what could happen, I assume this is the first time the dog has bitten anyone? Was the blokes skin broken? If it happened in the garden it is possible that legislation called The Dogs Act 1871 could be used, which allows the council or police to ask the courts for a dog control order to be put in place and this would stipulate conditions that the owner would need to follow such as keeping the dog on a lead when in public etc. If on the street then The Dangerous Dogs Act could apply as the dog
  16. I have a pair of Seeland allaround wellies which are the basic side gusseted, cotton lined type and they have been great, they are left in the boot of the car, dragged out every day for two hours a day and the water at the moment is right up to and over the gusset and I have had no leaks at all. I have had them for a year now and for the cost, the comfort and the lack of attention they get I feel that they have more than earned their keep
  17. A great idea, good for fitness and fun. Dogs are kept fit all year, human athletes keep fit, why not ferrets
  18. I read the first word and had to dry my eyes from the laughter before reading the rest....................Royston. I just knew it was gonna get worse from there
  19. My dads from Ireland but I haven't been back there since I was 18 years old...........that's quite a few years. I have to say that I loved it, I had a great time, my cousins took me out to a club, I had no problems at all, it was a friendly fantastic place, the only embarrassing moment was my dad forgetting the words to Danny Boy at the local rugby club, he's dry now so he would probably remember the words if he had to do it again . We considered moving there all those years ago, in the early 90's but never did. If Irelands gone down hill that much, then sad times indeed
  20. I know, but all the heavy intellectual topics were a bit too much for me so I thought I would lighten the mood with something less serious
  21. Sorry lads, now I'm just being bloody stupid................................................................
  22. NOT Cornwall, now that is a place that I do actually care about
  23. Good question, please allow me some time to thoroughly research the various issues before I give an opinion
  24. Watching Scotland head towards independence is like watching a small deaf child, just about to walk over a 300 foot cliff. No matter how much you warn them they just cant hear you
