  1. Because I usually wear boots, I couldn't justify loads on wellies, but I got some Seeland all around wellies from Scats last winter and they do the job really well, grippy sole, put a decent in sole in and your away
  2. I got them from Ukmc in Portsmouth, they are a Blackhawk stockist Good customer service, if you google it, they will come straight up.
  3. Knowledge is power patterdale, so I think its a good thread and also with a lot of diseases and bacteria, small scale regular exposure can actually build an immunity over time. People who work in kennels will accidentally be taking home all sorts to there own dogs for example and it can actually give their own dogs an advantage, if they were ever exposed to the full blown illness IMO its never a bad idea to ask questions, it helps share the knowledge that everyone on here has
  4. Blackhawk black ops boots, fantastic and in budget, about £130. Read the reviews before purchasing and there were comments like, went moose hunting, walking for 5 hours in minus 20. So I was pretty sure they were good enough for little old me Really pleased with them, time will tell and after I've had them a bit longer, i'll post a review but so far, so good, really cant fault them and great sole (vibram) but different design to most that I have seen and way gripper on tree roots etc
  5. The Call of the Wild by Jack London and the Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway. Both fantastic books and I am sure played a part in my love of nature, dogs and the sea
  6. When Russia does do what it has to do, lets hope no do gooder westerners insist on interfering with cries of human rights etc, Remember these people would be quite happy to decapitate each and every one of us on public television. The saying from WW2 is never truer than when dealing with terrorists of this sort.................nice men don't win wars....................take the gloves off for God sake, else one day our female descendants will live the life of slaves.
  7. 2014, the year of the scrounging foreigner and the backstabbing politician............. , you've gotta laugh otherwise you would
  8. May 2014 be happy, healthy and wealthy for you all. Thanks for the laughs and company over the last year, its been emotional...... and and and and :clapper:and :cray:and and and and and and especially and fairly often . Have fun all.
  9. Just looked into it and even the people present are saying it was just a tragic accident, most wild animals will try and steer clear of people and definitely wont be loitering outside a pub, sizing up the next victim. I also now know what you meant Old Trap collector about the normal woman thing, I thought you meant she was famous or royalty or something. The injuries sound bad so I hope she recovers and gets to walk again. One of those 1 in a million things, you would never dream of going out that way. Makes you realise how quickly a good day can turn bad.
  10. How drunk was she..............sure it wasn't some bloke in a crazy country dancing festival outfit, sounds like something out of midsummer murders ........................joking aside I hope she is ok
  11. I know Paulus, to be honest I am lucky not to have had any of that in my time, the worst of it all is that I used to teach others about that stuff. Mechanics and their cars, you know what its like seriously though, rat bites or any animal bite for that matter is not to be treated lightly
  12. Its all about groomers who turn dogs into works of grooming art, pandas, boxes of liquorice all sorts, the opportunities are endless
  13. Just looked, I saw the programme advertised the other day. There are some crazy people in the dog world, it stops being about the dog and becomes all about the person. I don't trust people like that in any dog game
  14. What programme is that?
  15. I think STRANGER is referring to the thread were Kranky was having a verbal tussle with you and Gnasher about London and it got a bit colourful . I think it was mainly Gnash and Kranky who crossed words but all was sorted in the end I seem to remember
  16. I was bitten by a rat once through my finger nail, it did smart some what . To be honest I didn't treat it beyond flushing it under a tap. Used to have a care free attitude towards animal bites when younger, but old age has softened me up
  17. Sorry to hear that, gutted for you, at least she's not suffering.
  18. I remember when I was 15 at school and I had an English teacher that was constantly on top of me...............not like that this was the 80's . We were debating animal and human interactions and I said that Killer whales can become sexually attracted to humans, she thought I was being a smart arse and said who did you get that from........................I Replied, Jacque Coustaeu. It was a satisfying moment Now I look back on it, she was a great teacher..........................provoked some real thinking. Thanks Mrs Creed
  19. This is an example of why this country is screwed. My boys geography teacher phoned me to say that my lad, who was 14 at the time was dancing around him, in his face trying to intimidate him and asked me to have a word. He came home from school, I grabbed him by the coat and said "don't do that its not nice to try and scare people". The next day he goes into school and tells the school that I had lost it and showed them a small mark on his neck that wasn't even related to the incident. I went home for lunch at about 17:00 and the police and social workers were waiting for me, After questioning
  20. Our society is definitely going down the river. Those that take, take, take and have no intention of ever contributing in any way are outbreeding the rest, its a game of numbers. They breed like rabbits because they can afford to as the rest of us pay for them to raise their kids. I also think the whole rap culture thing has a massively negative effect on the young, it promotes violence, rudeness, attitude, disrespect towards women, gun crime, knife crime. Its another U.S. import that is eroding away the principles that were once installed into the youth of this country. Sad times but I can on
  21. For me, a surprise was yesterday, Oldham Lad started a thread on the morality of hunting..........I was expecting the usual "grow a pair" type replies but was really pleasantly surprised when the members all replied with thoughtful, caring answers. The chap was asking for thoughts that might have influenced a lifestyle choice, so well done Oldham Lad it took guts to post it and well done all, I salute you
  22. I remember once, my old curly coat was swimming off a beach at North Norfolk, when a grey seal popped up, they were looking straight at each other about two feet apart. It was one of those moments that i'll never forget
  23. Linguists and scientists are trying to decode "dolphinese", so that when we do meet extra terrestrials, we have more of an idea what non human languages are like...................that's true . Also be carefull next time your swimming, dolphins can be sexually attracted to humans...................can you imagine turning on a 200Kg, drugged up teenage dolphin ..................painfull
  24. Get her to the vets, could be a whole host of things. Remember a ferrets digestive tract is short as they live on a high protein diet so any blockage or other digestive problem is going to have a negative effect on her really quickly. A bloated abdomen can also indicate heart issues and fluid retention. Definitely need a trip to the vets . Good luck whatever the result.

    Crossbows

Its fine to use were you have the land owners permission but as already said, all bow hunting is illegal in this country. Just be careful about backstops etc, some crossbows are exceptionally powerful.
