    He's got two books in print. Radical, and Islam and the Future of Tolerance. Radical is very autobiographical of his time as an extremist and details his life in and ultimately out of that mindset. Islam and the Future of Tolerance is a dialogue between himself and Sam Harris. He argues that Islam is open to reformation and explains an extremely reasonable approach. Well worth a read if you're interested in understanding the mindset of the opposition. His interview/dialogue with Anjam Choudray is enlightening ! On YouTube, I think.....if you can filter out Chaudray's ranting !

    He was held as a terrorist in an Egyptian prison - he freely admits that his views used to be extreme, though he claims he has never supported or condoned violence. He's at his best, I think, when he's confronted by extremists (of all kinds !)......sensible, level headed and even handed, he has a terrible habit of bringing facts to an opinion fight ! If any of you have never listened to him, I can recommend tuning in one day. I like the fella !

    Most of us here support the sentiment that if you're not prepared to stand behind our troops, you should feel free to stand in front of them ! So all "troops" should be immune from criticism? What a ridiculous idea! I've got nothing against decent, law abiding soldiers. Criminals who join banned terror organisations are a different matter. Criminal ? No-one has been found guilty of anything, as far as I'm aware.....

    I totally agree mate. Personally I think the banning of ideas is exactly what some politicians want to do and I see western governments heading in that very direction. It's like all this hyperbole about the Brexit negotiations, they ain't trying to "get the best deal for Britain" imho......what they are doing is trying to work out how it can all carry on as before while just giving people the illusion of being an independent country. 'Praps successive governments should have proscribed themselves, as they pose the most serious threat to our freedom and liberty !

    Years ago, I heard a story about Ozzie Osborne's tour bus being stopped by the police. The officer asked "Do you have any drugs on the vehicle ?". Ozzie starts rooting round and says "I'm sure we can find you something. What you after ?"

    I have to confess that I'd never heard of National Action, before they were banned, but I think a surefire way to make an organisation more popular, and more dangerous, is to ban it. Here we are, discussing a tiny group that, only a short time ago, no-one knew existed, who havent actually claimed responsibility for harming anyone, or even had a viable plot disrupted.........You can't ban ideas !

You know what those soldiers can be like ! I haven't met anyone who's too bothered about it......

    Along the "happy wife, happy life" lines..... It's the good lady's birthday next week. She wants a pygmy hedgehog ! We took a wild one in last year (released now), and she developed a soft spot for them - once she saw a picture of a pygmy, it was game, set and match ! Seriously cute ! I always have the last word - "Yes, dear !"......resistance is futile !

    Knibbs do one for around 20 quid,including P&P mate. The barrel will cock, but not fire - have to resort to taking the action out of the stock to decoding it. Could it be that a new sear is needed, or any other ideas ?

    You can see where the stock was broken, but the repair is solid. There seems to be an intermittent problem with the trigger sear, but the one we put in was already old and worn, so the rifle doesn't always fire when it's cocked - if anyone has a sear for a Mk3 or 4 hanging around, I'd be interested in acquiring it. But, on the whole, it's done and ready to be scoped up !

    UPDATE......UPDATE.....UPDATE...... As promised, here's the pictures of the BSA Meteor restoration. We repaired and refinished the stock, reblued the metalwork and replaced all the bolts with nice, shiny, new brass ones. We even managed to restore the gold lettering on the barrel logo !

    I listen to Maajid quite a bit on LBC, and I have to say that I commend a lot of what he says.....not everything, but quite a bit. Anyhow, here's his take on leftie student movements, political correctness and "offence"....

    So, the only ones who bear any consequence from this tawdry, shoddy mess.....are the poor young girls ? This should be a national disgrace, but it's become a huge exercise in face saving and damage limitation. I reckon that a public enquiry would turn up different conclusions..........
