This was one of those "and finally" items on the news last night - little Tempy Pattinson did some fund raising for Help for Heroes, and met Simon Brown, who was blinded in a sniper attack. Common sense has prevailed (for once)...... A court has ruled that the child is to be placed with a family member, who lives nearby. No explanation as to why this wasn't done in the first place !

The good lady's uncle lives near Norwich, but fishes all over the area. Don't know the region myself, but a while ago he was moaning about them being in the Nar and the Wensum........

1979 aged 16, at the NCB.....think it was 60 quid-ish. I know it was more than my old dad, who was on around 40 !

What a good idea ! Cook them first ? Yes and no liquidize mix with fish meal powdered eggs salt then roll and boil. I'll give that a try.....fishing has been a waste of time for me, so far this year !

Tower Hamlets council claim they couldn't Ind a "suitable" (ie white) foster family.......which would come as no surprise to anyone who's ever been there ! After a long and sad history of f***ing up child care issues, at the cost of the lives of several vulnerable children, you'd think they'd tread a lot more carefully than this !

I seem to recall that the water temp has to be above 10°C for them to be at their most active......winter through to early spring is a nonstarter.

Is that 5hit hole still standing ? I used to go in The Sultan in Lewisham and The Amersham in New Cross.....knew a lass who lived on the Pepys, but I wouldn't go anywhere near the godforsaken hole !

I just asked the good Lady BB what her worst job was..... She immediately said "Working in a factory, putting the little plastic toys in Xmas crackers !"......her eyes glazed over, and she didn't want to talk about it any more than that.

My best job would be most people's idea of a nightmare. I was an "anatomy technician" in a pathologist's mortuary - basically assisting him in post mortems......gruesome, but endlessly fascinating !

When my brother decided to stay at school, then go on to university, I took the pi55 mercilessly - "You want to get a job, you idle swot !" etc etc.... Now, he lives in a big detached house and gets 90 grand a year.......should have listened to my mum!

The horrors this is bringing back...... Loading cases of frozen chicken onto cages and pushing them onto lorries.....night shifts on convoy vehicles, escorting traffic through roadworks at 15mph - up and down the same 2 miles of road, turn round, go back, do it again....... ....endless hours of mind-numbing, spirit crushing tedium !

I was reading an article that said 35 year-olds hate their job the most......and it got me thinking about some of the jobs I've done over my life. I've had some jobs I really enjoyed, a few I was indifferent about, and I thought "It hasn't been so bad...." And then, I remembered doing 12 hour shifts spent heat sealing bags of frozen vegetables.......(and I remembered the old woman who had worked their for 9 years, standing by a conveyor, picking out substandard peas, all day long !) I've strimmed the grass around trees, for the council and I've sat outside a building site, writing

Someone posted asking for fly tying materials,I offered to help out and now the topics been removed?? I contributed to the thread. My flabber was a little gasted that it had been removed.........Walshies post means that my flabber has been ungasted, apparently. Thank you, Frankie Howerd.
