  1. The real danger (for the region at least) has to be that Israel will become embroiled in this. Hezbollah and Hamas fighters are reportedly going into Syria (on Assad's side) in large numbers, and the Israelis are getting increasingly jumpy about this apparently free movement of what they see as terrorists. Not only does Israel have state-of-the -art weaponry and defence systems, but they are not afraid to use them and are not known for their love of taking prisoners! Even more worrying would be the scenario where Israel came under serious military threat, because this would mobilise the Amer
  2. I'm in ! When do we start? I'm free tomorrow !
  3. Dos is on a bland diet (jippy guts!), and I ran out of chicken, so I'm up at 7 cooking rice and pan-fried sea bream !! The thing we do for them !!

Done in a dry pan, mate! She's on the mend now - nearly back to normal!

  4. I sense the hand of the Haji's! They get everywhere. تم سچ میں ہوشیار رہنا ہوگا You never know............ well i have searched all over the net and i will be damned if i can find anything happening in Luton today that would have clashed with armed forces day Me too! Mrs.B's Mum lives nearby and says it has come as a surprise to everyone she knows. There may be a legit reason, but the Haji's will get some mileage out of this
  5. Mate, my misses is Scottish.. I swear they make mad new phrases and expressions up on the spot as required with some of the things she still comes out with and surprises me with after 13 years! :laugh:We make things up?? What about your lot....f*****g 21 letter vilage names with no vowels ffs.... Lol Aye we do stuff like that to wind you lot up, bet you couldn''t book a taxi to there. That's what postcodes are for. Knew you was posh butt , taxi's with sat nav that's just showing off. Me posh? I nearly spat out my macchiato then. Actually most of the cabs round her

    Tip

To win? Or did you go mad and back it each way?
  7. Anyone's loved ones use any especially baffling or unusual phrases? (Sorry to go off thread Walshie !) Mrs.B is from Dunstable and anything that tastes unpleasant is 'gopping'.
  8. I sense the hand of the Haji's! They get everywhere. تم سچ میں ہوشیار رہنا ہوگا You never know............
  9. Does anyone else watch this? I stumbled across it a couple of weeks ago, and I'm hooked. It's a Canadian drama series about a Strategic Response Unit,(anti-terrorist, hostage negotiation etc), but unlike an American 'cop series', there's no gung-ho, no robber dying amid a hail of bullets,no instant recovery from a flesh wound. The series is well-written, thoughtful and intelligent, with some great twists in the stories. The good guys don't always win and sometimes it's not even clear who the good guys really are. If you fancy checking it out - Sky 148 9pm Monday to Friday
  10. Note the date, and remember the event was "cancelled in February" http://www.armedforcesday.org.uk/events/details.aspx?id=7811272
  11. Thankfully very quiet where we are, Lara, but so much green space everywhere you go.( We're not very far from the concrete cows BTW.) I gathered ! I bring my horses down to Brickhills to meet up with a friend for some woodland riding - closest I get these days to the New City ! We pass the Brickhills every time we go to see Mrs B's mum. Lovely countryside full of proper English woodland - you lucky !
  12. Just checked a local paper's website - a Council spokesman claims it was cancelled in February, after the organisers "failed to make a firm booking" (quote), but Luton was listed on the official Armed Forces Day website right up until today. Will post if I can find anything relevant.
  13. Armed Forces Day cancelled is bad enough, but cancelled in the home of EDL............ Have they given a reason, or do we have to send suggestions in on a postcard? LUTON IS THE HOME OF EDL, FFS !

  15. Good job, buddy! Same thing happened to me and I've got 3 or 4 in various stages of production, and in various degrees of success. If you need help or advice, this is the place!!
  16. I don't want to say exactly where (for obvious reasons) but I will try to get close enough to get some pix. I've also seen the odd Muntie, but this is my first proper look at a Roe.
  17. Drug use is probably not as wide-spread as in, say, weightlifting or powerlifting, but where there is sport there will be cheats, I'm afraid !
  18. Yes, you read that right! Just been out with the big dog for a couple of hours - pi55 wet through, but hey ho! For those that don't know my new home, it's very green - unbelievable amounts of woodland, park and lakes everywhere you turn. Any way, after 30 or 40 minutes, we come around a small stand of tall bushes, and we're 20 feet from a young roe buck! Dog and deer stare each other out for a few seconds, before the deer bounds off in to the distance (Mastiff X in hot pursuit!). I called her back and watched the deer make it's way through some trees. We followed the path around and
  19. I've followed Le Tour since Greg Lemond's great rivalry with Lauren Fignon in late '80s. I love the sheer spectacle of it - the downhill camera shots as they go up Col d'Aspin and Col de Tourmalet are awe-inspiring. I think my car would struggle to get up there! I think the talk of Froome doing well on the mountainous course is right, and his chances are helped by Wiggins' absence. I predict Froome for yellow, Cavendish for green (just) and Contador for polka-dot KOTM.
  20. How do you get a Paki out of a tree? Cut the rope!

  21. We could learn a lot from the militia and so-called 'white extremist' groups in the US -I mean in terms of organisation, motivation, tactics and recruitment, because these are the areas where we are being out-manouvered and are losing ground. The longer we leave it, the longer the way back will be !
  22. Good couple of post, Dare - very rational and reasonable. Gotta love Robert and Pamela, buddy!
  23. £12.2 billion in 'International Development Assistance, around £115 billion for Trident missile system replacement, £43 billion for HS2 rail link, over £1 billion of tax-payer subsidies to privately-owned 'wind farms'......on and on it goes. Vast amounts of our money spent on pointless, unpopular and unnecessary projects, while we have our pockets picked on a daily basis and our incomes squeezed until they bleed. Did you know Whitehall government spent £3 million pounds on biscuits last year? (check if you don't believe me). But some day soon, the revolution will come, Just like it did i
  24. i conducted a liitle experiment, using Google, and tried to find organisations, other than the Police, you could report to if you were attacked by Muslims.. .......guess what? I couldn't find a single one! They must exist, but beggared if I could find them ! Not a scientific experiment, I grant you, but I think it does show how much more better organised and motivated they are (IED is one of many such sites). And that is were they have got ahead of us!
