The ONS has produced a 'heat map', showing levels of happiness, anxiety and overall life satisfaction for towns and regions of the UK. Apparently, if you live near Farnborough, you're deleriously happy, but if you live in East Northants (like me !), you're downright miserable ! I know a couple of smashing blokes who target shoot, but find hunting abhorrent. Just down my street, there's a lovely lady who runs a couple of greyhounds, but is a strict vegetable-ist (I found that out when my dog came trotting back with a rabbit in his mouth - that was an awkward conversation !). They're nice people, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I want to stay friends with them, so we don't have that debate ! Simples ! Fogle is, without a doubt, a hypocrite, but it doesn't stop me watching "New Lives in the Wild".............

My first 6 hens were ex-battery. Got 3 years of laying out of them, and it's good to know that I gave them a better life than they started with !

I didn't use heaters for mine. If the perch is just big enough and the coop isn't too big, they'll keep each other warm at night !

If you've got an egg producer near you, you might still have time to get a few from them very cheap (no pun intended). They're changing their flocks over about now, and the "old" birds aren't not worth much to them (18 months old or so, but still got loads of laying left). They look a bit raggedy at first, but they soon pick up. A farmer I know recently gave a mate of mine 12 for free ! If you keep them cooped, give them as much space as you can (bend the wire back on itself and bury it), good food, lock them up before dark. Once they're settled, they're proper characters.......

That's very nice, Jon, and it'll give you endless fun ! I love mine ! For the job they were designed for, you can't get better, I reckon. It's not as fancy as that one, but it does push over 8 ft/lb. I use it just for short range rats, squirrels etc.........10 -15m with Bisley Mags ! Ouch ! I found the trigger too heavy, so I squeezed the spring a bit to lighten it but, apart from that, I've resisted the temptation to start modding.............Crosman geekery is a world all of its own ! : D

Agreed. If you take the unproven rumour and hearsay from the cat killer story, you've got very little - if anything - for the police to investigate. Hence, case closed.

Good old LBC covered this yesterday and, in between animal rights nutters ranting incoherently, the presenter read out an interesting fact.......... Of the 400-odd alleged 'victims', SNARL have performed or commissioned around 25 post mortems. Of those, only 6 showed definite signs of human responsibility ! If my maths are correct, that extrapolates to an actual total of 96.........not the much more headline worthy 400 ! (Which, for me, also raises the question "Who performs a post mortem on a cat ? An animal rights group creating a story for a fund raising push, maybe ?)

It's so clearly a Deep State conspiracy ! Force the police to close the case, and alter the evidence retrospectively, covering up the fact that the Queen's surgeon is the murderer ! (Or am I thinking of Jack the Ripper ?.)

We don't really have natural disasters here, but I reckon it's wise to have some type of provision, in the event a predicted event - flooding, storm, heavy snow, power cut - but, as far as I'm aware, there's not much protection from 10 megatonnes of depleted uranium !

This whole thing was started by an organisation that calls itself (without a hint of irony) SNARL - South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty..........a typically motley crew of scruffy, unwashed vegan nutcases, who've cynically used a series of animal deaths to push their own 'misguided' agenda. Check out their "soshul meeja" postings - some of them are absolutely hilarious !
