  4. Try seating the bullet to 20 thou of the lands and try again, the 1 in 10 should have no problems with the 87g v-max.... something doesn't sound right if your shooting it to 2 inches something is up...!! are you flinching at all...!!sometimes it does take alot of time to develop the sweet load... and then things just fall into place...if you have no joy with the n160 i suggest you try varget... however it is a temperature sensitive powder.....but varget is also real good in the .243.hope you get sorted out soon.Snap.
  5. weather and sickness plying havoc here..... but come the first available chance i'm there... Snap.
  6. How did i miss this post....grrrrr stunning clouds... i like it lots..
  7. hey there, Well your reasoning seems fairly clear, and 12g is a good popular cartrdge, for i'm thinking 28 to 30 inch barrel would be ideal, but you'd need to check how the clay grounds feel about semi auto shotguns... so maybe over and under may be best..... pigeons, and rabbit you could take without dogs... and still have good shooting... hope you get sorted. Snap.
  8. thanks everyone... and the you jd... glad you like it, i'll admit to not knowing all the technical mumbo jumbo, or how to get the best out of a shot but i'm trying...lol Snap.
  9. you can gert several different trigger kit for the remington, jewell do an excellent trigger, for them but it is very hard to get set right and will require a smith to get the best from it... i think the trigger price is around 200 quid though.. Snap.
  10. hey mate, just wondering did you drop syss a call....? if so did you gleen any good info regarding your questions... Snap.
  11. i use the .243 as a minly fox calibre, but use it for stalking too, i take reds and fallow, does the job very well, as long as i do my bit... loved the calibre so much i had it revamped as a semi custom..... Not regreted the decision one bit. Snap.
  12. i always zero at 100 yards, and you still still be able to point and shoot out to about 150... but to be bang on i adjust the elevation as i've got droptables done out on the butler creek caps, but if its a quick shot i just point and shoot... ATB. Snap.
  13. i help at fencing, dosing, anything in my spare time, and for a certain few farmers who treat me real well i get them vouchers for a meal at a local hotel... Snap.
  14. oakwood, try giving roger at south yorkshire shooting supplies a call, him and dave should be able to sort you out, or answer any question you have.... they are really helpfull, and i can vouch for the quality of their workmanship having got a semi custom rifle built, the money you have for the budget should get you something special... i done alot of searching and liked their approach to work and willingness to answer any queries you might have.. Snap.
  15. i'm not sure about the bolt face issue to be honest... but regards the two actions, When i rebuilt the rifle, the smiths said that nearly all remmington actions will need blueprinting, the older model tikkas and the sako actions where nearly all fairly true and if for a general hunting gun targets etc , unless your serious about competition shooting, will not need trued at all... that said the remmington is a strong action, just depends on your budget.... i know SYSS take in all actions and ture them up... Worth giving them a call, the price may surprise you and you'd
  16. Guys i'm a shooter, i lamp foxes, but only ever control numbers.... i stop shooting come mid march, and dont start till a problem occurs, or late september... Agreed there are some in the sport that are into numbers, but not all, They are vermin and have to be controled... Each to thier own, personally its not that easy to shoot them were i live and there are many blank nights.... but there are times when things go good and you may get 5 or so in one night.. personally i'd say don't believe it till you see the tails... Snap.
  17. Have a great time... and happy birthday.. Snap.
  18. your really taking some nice pics kay i have to say... Well done.. Snap.
  19. Its a pea souper here to mate, couldn't see your finger infront of your face for most of the day... temp never came above +3 and it was -3 whenever i went for a walk...... doesn't make good hunting conditions or load development conditions either..... Snap.
