  1. spend the money on a sako 85 s/s and then you'll have a quality weapon. save your cash, and purchase it or if needs be the tikka. As for needing deer on your land no. you just need land to shoot on for foxing.
  2. I would suspect that the problem was with the 'someone' trying to do the zeroing rather than the rifles! i agree with this comment, it's what's behind the rifle that the zeroing is done not the rifle itself. if i can't get the .243 ammo to shoot 3/4 inch group or less i dont use it, and have never had any trouble zeroing it ever. Two different rifles that didn't sort the problem tell me it's the shooter, not the rifles. sorry if that seems harsh but it's the only logical explanation there is. i shoot 58g 70g,87, 95g all through the .243 and have no problems with them. So i would
  3. shauny, just use the reloading data for the 180grain as the load weight in grains, will be less than 174. So your reloading will be safe. but start at the slower end of the scale and work your way up to get an accurate load. go to 1 grain less than max loading at the 180 grain bullet weight or to it if no signs of pressure.
  4. i liked it too. but i'd like to here something with a bit of rock tempo to it, very good song though they should go far..............

  12. Look at the land firstly, john and any signs of pads etc. it's a sit and wait game really to see whats happening. but still i wouldn't use the chicken call. time, trial, and error, and it Will come together......GOOD LUCK
  13. Firstly, keep the chicken call off, it's not natural, secondly take a look around the farm in daylight to see if you can find any paths prints etc, What is the farmer having problems with lambs, hens, early morning or after 12 till 2 am i find best, As suggested use a stink pit for a while and stay clear after a week or so till the fox builds up it's confidence in comming to the same area. DON'T light up the whole sky when lamping keep the light low and slow rotation combing over the land. Stay downwind if at all possible on sight of a fox. 100 yards shot or there abouts with hmr. not an
  14. this may be of help to you. http://military.ie/careers/enlisted/recruits/index.htm click on the general service booklet
  15. And for anyone shooting in eire the recommended distance is 60 feet from the road. this law dates back to the 1800's and is merely to do with the shot scaring horses and livestock on the road.........
  16. that is a true statement. A rifle is a rifle no matter if it shoots pellets or bullets, it's up to us to be responsible, in the way we carry our weapons and shoot them.
  17. Welcome paul, good to see you enjoying the shooting. hope you enjoy the site.
  18. Welcome and i hope you get sorted soon, nothing more stress releaving than doing a hobbie you love,
  19. Well said kay, if your living on 230 at the minute then you know whatever else you make, you can save or put to good use. So if a little extra graft is needed what odds don't your wages make up for this.
  20. Most of the rifles will tend to shoot them, Even though all are 1-10 twist, i cant get them to shoot well in my tikka 595, About 1 to 1 1/4 group maybe more, whereas a friend who has a sako 75 .243 shoot's them well in his rifle. So i drop down to 95 grain bullets which group very well. While 100g will stabilize in a 1-10 twist its just down to how accurate you want to be. i must spend more time on loads next time i get up north....
  21. Some people just like the styling of the militery looking weapons, sleekness of the design. etc As we know most of the military weapons are designed to put lots of rounds down range with medium to good accuracy. The designs in the military weapons filter into the civilian wepons over time because they are tried and tested. then the civilian market sort out the rest. Each to there own, but i know plenty of gung ho clowns out there who think that the are the bees knees looking all military and thats about it cause they can't shoot worth a shit...........................
  22. When needs must, fair play dean o for your efforts, it'll get you by for now fella. Any word of the harris appearing?
