  3. .223 for fox work, as for targets you will have fun with the .22lr and cheap to run but for targets at 100 yards or over .17hmr regardless of price you won't beat the .17hmr on accuracy againest the .22lr. people say the .17hmr is too much for rabbits but not if they are head shot which should not be a problem out to 100 yards........ so for this reason .17hmr for targets and bunnies and the .223 as a dedicated fox gun and long range target work............

  10. Hi Snap shot - not wishing to steal someones thread, but regarding the 129 SST, do you know how far back from the lands the heads were seated or the COL was. I have been playing about with these SST using N160 up to 47 g which at that weight has produced 1" at 100 yds with no signs of pressure. However I think I need to pick someones brains regarding seating depth Peter i just used hornady's C.O.L. for the bullet it was 3.035" My shooting buddie had his the same but he got better results. i've seen deer taken at over 300 yards with these bullets, they are excellent. trial and erro

  13. yes mate you need one license for each gun in ireland but in england they all go under one fac.........
  14. I think you will find that bullets do tumble mate not nit picking here but when it happens its usually to do with to heavy a grain of a bullet not being stabilized in the approprate twist rifle, and the bullet strikes the target namely always slightly side on, As i said i'm not nit picking just check out the net. http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/ballistics.htm

  16. i mainly spend the summer, with watery eye, sneezing, etc so i can't wait till sepember comes........i spend the season target shooting and getting my shit together, for the winter............... i love spending time at the range, lobbing rounds at distant targets. keeps you in check.........plus you know roughly what you can achieve come winter..........
  17. i heard two yesterday out on the hill..................... must be the nice weather
  18. i used the 129 grain sst by hornady when i had the weapon, loaded with N160, fed 210 primers, lapua brass, shooting under 1/2 inch at 100 yards and an excellent deer bullet, start at 36g then try 38.5, 41g 43.6g max load, mine liked 41g of n160. i could shoot across the border to my mates house to reload so it was never so bad just hope it become legal here soon.............
  19. Firstly i'd say don't go out and try all different types or brands of ammo, stick with one. The hornady v-max are inherantly accurate So i would start here. Secondly keep the mod of for the test, my 243 has lost all accuracy with it and i dont know why, So off it's going to stay, its one of the first t8's out, and has it's time served. thirdly, give the barrel a good cleaning, i fed the .243 cheap ammo and ended up with three hours cleaning to get the copper out, of which i never had a problem with before as i always kept it in check. but to my amazement it was full of copper fouling after
  20. What you have to bear in mind with cylinders is the type of pillar valve it has and whether it would be classed as a diving cylinder or not. In the airgun magazines there are adverts for cylinders with pillar valves and integrated gauges which could not be used for diving. These are the type also generally sold by gunshops> They are for surface use only and need only to be tested evry 5 yrs from date of manufacture. If, however the pillar valve is either a DIN or "A" clamp fitting which can support diving then any air station would have no alternative but to regard it as a diving cylin
  21. Nice one lad, your coming on there......excellent for 180 yards.........keep at it.
