  1. Only thing to also watch is that the the wad actully leaves the barrel, as if not burning all powder can lead to a pressure build up within the barrel as the wad and shot take longer to leave the barrel, i saw a new browning barrel swell with the same problem, browning done tests and the ammo was the cause, think of it like this the wad and shot go slower down the barrel, but the pressue is still moving forward, and catches the wad and shot, with no where to go the pressure will swell the barrel, you'd think it couldn't happen but i assure you it can, i advise caution it your se
  2. Quality shines through in the end.............. a copy might be fine when its new but give it a little wear and tear and see how long it lasts,
  3. stunning images, well done...........
  4. yep in one myself, this last 2 years, also been voted onto committee this year, A few of my pics choosen for exhibition last year, and hoping to get a few good captures soon, fro up coming themes this month its spring.... oh the plus is a few good looking girls in it too..... lol Snap.
  5. That is a missconception mate, as quality brass mean more accurate rounds which lead to a higher hit rate let me put it to you this way if i wanted to hit a fox at 350 or 400 yards, then i would aim to fire one shot and make that hit, now with a cheaper quality component then it may mean you fire 2 or even three shots to get the target, if on a budget then winchester bass would be my next recomendation but takes a little more work to make them shoot... Snap.
  6. The only way you will see how good the brass is, Is in fact to run it through a concentricity gauge and check the run out on it, in both body and neck, differing weights of brass, quality of flash hole, All will show exactlly what you get for you buck and lapua, in my opinion takes some beating, you will not notice it with normal hunting paramaters but extend the range and you will see the difference quality brass will make, consistancy is the key to accuracy, and that starts with the brass, Snap.
  7. This is a real shame considering that those men who fought for the downtrodden are now been disrespected, Any soldier who lays down his life for that of the greater good, deserves the utmost respect no matter WHAT country they are from, Ethically its all down to oil and what the american and british gorerments can gain from from such counteries, If the spent All that they have invested in such wars in their own counteries on renewable sources of energy then i'm sure We'd not need to worry about what country gets what ammount of oil... Of course i'm only talking about modern warf
  8. Easy money, dealers sellers, scum of the earth, Why do they not want to do an honest days work for an honest days wage, i worked 7 evenings a week to put myself through college, Some people just take the easy option and say oh handy money.... but not for the lives they destroy when people get hooked on their high, steal from family friends, etc... Snap.
  9. right nitty gritty, check all the mounting for loose fittings, next do you remove the copper from your bore...? and use a good carnbon cleaner... the .17hmr for its size is a dirty round in such a small bore, and needs a good routine to keep it shooting, if you haven't kept a good cleaning routine then your in for lots of work, trust me i had one of the first hmr's on the market in europe, its serial no is just over seventeen thousand... good luck with it...
  10. As far as your concerned you have the perfect rifle for both fox and deer, And if you dont reload its about time you started to invest in it rather than another rifle IMHO... i got a custom rifle built in .243 And absolutely love the calibre to bits, for foxing i use 87g v max, and deer i use the 95g sst, or the 100 BTSP, or the 105 A-max... for me its the only gun i'll ever need apart from my .17hmr for a little bunny bashing corvid fun... Snap.
  11. memory from the old days, my mate used to shoot a swift, very accurately, hand loaded, but factory rounds where also good, very loud, i got a full on blast from over the top of the jeep when i was driving, and window down, couldn't hear for 2 days... and thought i was gonna be deaf for life....!!! Advise is to check availability for ammo from a few local rfd's also price difference between that and .223 etc.
  12. Cheers malt, heading out tonight for round 2..........

  16. Well having been outta the shotting for a while i got a call from one of my permission friends to sort out a fox problem before lambing soon, Got into jeep and hit the road about 9, there for 9-20pm Wind blowing around 10 -15 mph multi directionally, First fox sighted and bagged at 217 yards, Second one we were lamping the distant ends of the fields from a ditch only to notice movement close by, saw a fox run from the dicth were we were literally standing, give a shout and it stopped about 60 yards for the few seconds i needed to click the safety and boom, the thump was ringing in
  17. fjr is a shaft drive alright, but very smooth transition from throttle, and check out you tube for 1/4 mile vids if its also performance your looking for.....
  18. best also to have the sticks leaning in towards you a little and not vertical, i find this helps loads but takes a little getting used to... practice alot and it will pay off...
  19. check out the fjr mate great protection from the elements, and goes like sh1t off a shovel... but if your going for the triumph, get this colour............ class looking or what...........? http://en.triumph-club.net/gallery_detail.php?id=415
