  1. HAVE NO MORE USE FOR IT AS MY FERRETS NOW LIVE IN A LARGE COURT. IN GOOD NICK, I DID CUT THE FEET OFF DUE TO THE SETUP I HAD. BUYER CAN COLLECT. PM FOR DETAILS. RICHIE LIBRARY PHOTO.
  2. i think the short of it is what alot of us are saying........ we dont live in the dark ages anymore, times have changed, " technology " equipment is available to us that will help us work burrows more effectively, quicker, give us a clue what is going on underground instead of standing above ground like a lemon waiting how ever long till a ferret appears, not my idea of fun.. imagine waiting above ground for an hour wondering where the ferret was with night fall coming in... little was it known that the ferret was only 1 or 2 feet below... without a locator, how the f*ck would anyone
  3. they never kill underground either do you actually use them or just show them, locaters are the BO??OCKS,saves loads of time<lets you ferret longer into the afternoon<and gives piece of mind on big earths, you might sit and listen on a small hedgerow earth but youed be lost on the big ones>get yourself a locater all the best couldny agree more....
  4. makes life a hell of alot easier & saves time having to wait for a ferret to re-surface.
  5. just to add... i was out ferreting the other day, if i never had them collared up i wouldnt of known what the f*ck was going on under me, and i wouldnt of been able to retrieve a dead bunny that was only 1ft under me that my ferret killed & left as i located him stationary for a couple of minutes so decided to dig down anyway just to have a gander. sod ferreting without a collar.
  6. JUST CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT THE MAJORITY OF FERRETERS USE OR NOT. I USE A LOCATOR.
  7. personally i wouldnt throw a ferret down a burrow without a collar... if you dont feel comfortable ferreting without a locator, which it seems you dont, then just save up for one. do what most of us do, take a look round you garage or where ever you keep any old hunting or unwanted gear you have laying around & flog it to finance needed gear. simple. richie
  8. i know... i grabbed it off another site... i think its great..
  9. is that suspose to be the new camera phone with 5.1 million pixels ? dont think im been negative stubbs but the picture seems quite blotchy... can you adjust the settings to use more pixels & set it on high picture quality.. had the same problem when i bought that digital recorder with a bullet camera with only 420TVL lines. richie
  10. im posting this on behalf of a friend who is organizing a ferreters day. as i know a few ex-NFR members are registered here this might be the only way of contacting them. but ken has told me that everyone is welcome. " the more the better. the meet will be at kens place in doncaster which is fairly central. the date is to be confirmed. everyone met up last year & had a good turn out with around 15 of us. everyones welcome, dogs included. if anyone is interested please pm me for his e-mail address. richie
  11. deben are full of shite!. when it first happened i called deben & explained the problem i was having, the lady on the phone said i was the first person to call & complain... she was talking out of her arse as i had a mate call up about it a few weeks earlier. she wasnt helpful & couldnt give me any useful advice apart from do the collars up tighter, but that doesnt help when like me i have 2 small jills that i tend to use alot. if i do tighten them up to where i think it has no chance of coming off, as soon as i place them on the ground they start wriggling on the floor trying
  12. fits straight onto my rapid no prob with the scope ive got.. i fitted the scope far forward as possible without causing any obstructions for the magazine to slide in, didnt need to fit lean forward mounts either. its just a matter of having your cheek abit further back on the butt. i mainly shoot from my vehicle so i rest the front end on the wing mirror and firmy hold the butt in place. if you have a merlin & your only going to be shooting out to 30/40 yds the picture quality & clarity will be spot on, youll be able to see their whiskers. i know you dont need a powerfull ill
  13. i carefully scraped the gap wider by less than a mm using a sharp craft knife.. ive never bothered putting tape around to stop water getting in the battery compartment.. never had that problem yet. deben say the unit compartmet is water proof but not the battery compartment. knowing me ill wait till i have the problem first before i start taping it up...
  14. steve, i did take your advice on doing the collars up tighter and it does work but not on my small jills.. so for them i just stick to my upgraded ones.. richie
  15. neal, with my bigger ferrets its no prob, but i have a couple of small jills that have a neck as slim as their heads. when i do them up tighter they put their hand behind the collars & drag it off or walk backwards & scrape the collar on the floor to take it off... richie
  16. ive never seen any different mk3 transmitters... any pics ? with the ones i have, the battery compartment clips shut..... richie
  17. boris, they shouldnt come apart.. it would be impossible for them to seperate, or do you mean you put tape around the buckle to stop it from undoing ? richie
  18. Thats a good tip Richie, thanks, i never new that. Nest time im out, ill keep it off. youre welcome.... they should be in the instructions.. the receivers pickup all radio signals close by. richie
  19. i had the same problem. untill i upgraded them. but i do use the original nylon mk3 collar with my bigger hobs & jills but useless with small ferrets.
  20. out of interest.... & if your post is genuine tell me the prices you are willing to pay for dead animals.. pigeon ? rabbit ? fox ? badger ? deer ? rats ? squirrels ? & lets just say someone had some roadkill or dead quarry, is it worth them driving all the way to meet you or visa versa ? youll probably do more in juice driving to where ever you are. personally i think youre on a wind up. richie
