  1. good advice, also every now & again, take the moderator off & make sure the crown hasnt got a load of crud around it, youll be surprised how quick it gets caked..
  2. just to add: if you have only ever trid winnies, dont change anything on your rifle, get hold as as many different makes of ammo & do a test to see what works. rich
  3. i cant see any negatives with the eleys, they do the job well, now dont get me wrong, i dont hit every target as the odd one gets a lucky break now & again. just buy 100 eley & give them a bash..
  4. i have the exact same rifle in .22lr... i tested winchester subs & found them shite, 1 inch grouping at 25 yards, need i say more.... now i wont use any other ammo other than eley subs, you get what you pay for i believe.. saying that though, what works well for me, might be the total opposite for you, but the high majority dont complain about eley. all these test were done using a bipod, bench resting in an indoor range.. 5 shots using eley subs at 25 yards... a positive scored with the eley subs "100" a 92 scored with winchester subs if
  5. dont forget to post your pics on here mate i will come rain or snow ill be out with it tomorrow night and hope to bag some verry lamp shy bunnies over my golf course i havent had much luck with the lamp at all and nor the early mornings either so im hoping the nv will produce some for me!!! ill let you all no when im back and hopfully have some picks to put up how did you get on with it ?
  6. am i the only one who thinks the rows & arguements & name calling starts when the pet only ferret owners start ? this section is turning into a joke !
  7. started a new contract today, block work on four properties... had to put these pictures up of the tenants friends attempt at proofing ! lunatic. i pulled the middle section out slightly before i took the picture.. they had towels stuffed under the cooker packed in with more expandable foam, i wont even start about what was under the fridge ! mind you, it was nice & cosy for the mice....
  8. well done... im looking forward to getting my 17, what is yours zeroed at ?
  9. after been shown, i place a few pieces of blue disco film inside the red filter & sometimes use this as an ir filter, but ive only done this a few times.... i use a 75mw ir illuminator to see out as far as i need.. when it comes to finding the bunnies i tend to take the monocular off & use it hand held & use the on-board ir for close searches, the problem sometimes is recognizing where they fell.. as long as i bang them down & go home with a few im happy...
  10. all these shots were taken in total darkness.. i do use a lamp sometimes with a red filter to have a quick scan across a large field, but if i know im going to a known effected area i go straight in with the nv... i dont make a habit of looking through it for a long period of time, turn it on every now & again, do the biz & straight off again..
  11. cheers jack... they dont know whats coming.. the only down side is when you pop a few off, you dont always get a chance to see where you shot the target, so sometimes its hard to retrieve the kill.. i tend to take the add-on off & scan the area with the unit focused in close..
  12. just been reading some plans & 600 is ok.. also steve, you know about putting mesh on the floor & not to make it solid ?
  13. im glad you like it, how big is the difference ! chalk & cheese.. like i said in a past post that when i was down the range i pushed the bolt forward & it went off ! luckily i was down range & not in the field, those triggers can be over sensitive.. i was out with mine last night aswell, cant fault them.
  14. one of my farmers has asked me to try to thin out a certain area on his patch as theres 100`s of rabbits there.. ill take his word for it... anyway, i plotted my self up along a fence line as usual to wait for the unsuspecting wabbits to show them selves... as im not one to like walking, i sat in the motor with my cz & add-on.. after 10 minutes or so a few showed them selves, now ive got them both in my sights, ready to hit the first & hopefully move onto the next, cross hairs on them, then all of a sudden i heard bang, rattle, bash.... bye bye rabbits, i turned round
  15. ohh, its just that when you said " I agree with you about instant kill. you imagine being caught in a trap then transported to your death . Hitler stuff that " its a comment someone would make who doesnt agree in live cage trapping as it might cause unnecessary suffering.....
  16. so i take it you are going to stop using live cage traps ?
  17. there you go... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...c=52658&hl=
  18. starting with the hardest spring, i settled with the 3rd spring & green tube....
  19. call the operator & they will put you through to a department which will set up a trace on your line... how it works is, whenever you get a nuisense call, someone ringing & hanging up when you answer it, they will give you a code to dial straight away which will log that number to their department, now if that same number does it more than once they will hand the details to the authorities but wont allow you to have the callers number.. i had the same problem years back..
  20. good guns, i was left one by my uncle a few years back, fixed choked, ejector, basic & does the job... the one i have is about 25+ years old.. rich
  21. my sport / work is varied... im a member in a syndicate that holds approx 600 acres of land, & i have permission on a number of farms with a total of 1500acres approx, i see this land as my sporting permission, but it also leads onto paying customers... i have regular customers on domestic & commercial properties with control for rabbits, moles, rodents, wasps, ect with new work & contract coming in regurlary which im happy with as ive only started to trade recently... rich
