  1. ill stick to using the compact for the NV shots... for now..
  2. it is addictive pat, cant wait for the season to get into things as ill be taking it out all the time..
  3. had a couple of hours spare today so thought id get out to test the camera as i havent used it yet, so i went to london zoo.... only had an hour or so before it started to rain... i think i have my work cut out with all the settings, & what there best used for.. to be honest, i wasnt using the most suitable lense for some of these shots. the one i had attached was the canon EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 usm.
  4. i was looking at the 450D, nice unit, but decided to put the extra to get the 40D. i havent had a chance to put it to use yet, but looking forward to it.. whats your budget ?

    water

i take a small water bottle out with me which is clipped to their box when travelling & during the day i give them a liver, then put them back to work..
  7. that add you have is pretty long winded in my opinion, & i wouldnt be sticking pictures up of dead rabbits, probably wouldnt go down too well as most people dont see rabbits as pests... keep it simple & to the point... just my opinion, & like was said, you need public liability 100%, & £30 for a day !
  8. id be asking for royalties pat .... out of principle..
  9. has the farmer specifically asked you to get rid of the birds, or are you just doing it for a bit of sport ? if the farmer wants rid of them then put your self together a pigeon trap & let it work for you, only down side is that it will have to be visited daily to despatch any targets... now if its just for sport & the shots aernt safe then dont risk it....
  10. The 18-200 is a decent "all rounder" especially for wildlife. I went for the Sigma lens to take out on hunting days ( less expensive than the canon version ) also on the canon 40d you do not really want to be changing lenses all the time as dirt on the sensor is a tw@t. It has a sensor cleaning cycle on start up and close down. If your using the 40d in the field I would also carry some eclipse fluid and swabs. Good choice overall and I am sure you will see some great results. The camera is quite easy to use. If you can invest in a battery grip or spare batteries. Thanks

  12. i check my zero before each outing....
  13. one piece of advice i would give would is to zero in on a target closer rather than further, be much easier to see where the bullet falls...
  14. i learnt the hard way about inviting others on my permission, once bitten, twice shy ! theres a handfull of us that meet up regularly, but trust had to be gained first..
  15. at least you got out today pat... well done on the four... i noticed that a few have myxi down my way aswell, walked up to one the other day & picked him up to do the deed...
  16. thats a very good thing for you to do... if he was telling the truth. me & the Mrs always give generously to the homeless when we see them making an effort, eg: when you see them selling the big issue which they have to buy to re-sell for a small profit to make extra cash... a suspect a majority of homeless poeple are in the situation because of mental illness, but when you get people that are just pure bone idle, well thats another story.. my point of putting this thread up was that it was un-believable to see the blatent liberty some people take..
  17. its a sad thing to see anyone homeless, especially this time of year, but in someones garden, crapping everywhere, dumping rubbish, mattresses ect ect .... theres plenty of derelict homes about if needs are a must...
  18. hardly kay, there taking the piss, literally... been shitting in the garden like animals... mind you, if you have some room you can take them in...
  19. at a customers today, she lives in a house that has been converted into 3 flats with a communual garden... getting on with work, then the woman said to me: i wonder what my neighbours are storing in the garden, thats been there for a while ? so i got up to have a look, as you do... seemed to be a tarpaulin attached up to the side of a wall.. ive took a closer look & noticed that there were shoes & clothes nearer to the house that were out of sight from the window from normal view.. ive gone out the back & this bloke has made him self an end of terrace, there was n

got a letter posted today from the B.A.S.C as follows: Dear Mr ******** I am writing to ask you for a £40 donation, or what ever you can afford, towards the appeal of the B.A.S.C communications centre that will make a real difference to the fight to protect shooting. & so on & so on, * a TV facility for broadcast interviews. * an in house video unit to edit filming for media outlets. * a sound proofed radio studio equipped with the latest technology. * blah blah blah.... what a piss take, its not enough that i pay £65 a year for full membership, &
  22. as its going to be the first time testing it out, i will test it on a certain warren that i know is roughly 2 foot deep as its only a small set & its out in the open, but just waiting for the undergrowth to die back.. also as ive said in a previous post, i will need to get my jeep close by as im powering the receiver with an inverter that is wired up in my vehicle.. shouldnt be too long now, just hope it works...be good to see them at it...
