  1. when you say longnet, what method are you going to be using ?
  2. i can see this post going on for ever with f**k all getting done ! failing stubbies advice with regards to the pest acts been used & if you cant get onto the side where the main problem is coming from: either, * live cage trap. get them to pay for them & say you will check them on a daily basis. * use mk6 fenns & place them correctly flush with the ground level in "open meshed" cubby tunnels, get you dad to set them. * advise the allotment owners / keepers to put a few quid together & place up rabbit proof fencing & install a few drop boxes which will last
  3. if theyve asked you not to shoot then dont, whats the point of losing the permission.. i would go with either live traps or mk6 fenns, put in 2" x 2" mesh cubby tunnels & place them where the runs come from the brambles....
  4. congratulations to you both !!!
  5. suzuki jimny, good all rounders.. Thanks Richy. going off the topic a bit but thinking of getting a small 4x4 like the Jimny are they ok for off road hunting & how are they on fuel and tax etc, i like the look of them there a top little motor, not the biggest inside, but for me its perfect.. i fold the back seats away & can get whatever i need to, be it for ferreting or shooting. insurance, tax is cheap & the fuel, i can put £37 in it & i get 240 miles out of it... the 4x4 is good too, low 4 wheel will pull me out of anywhere that i go, even with
  6. never fired one, just picked one up in the gun shop, & i wasnt impressed... obviously it goes without saying that the performance is important, but feel & looks are important to me aswell, i like a rifle to feel like a rifle, & the quad dont do it for me.....
  7. suzuki jimny, good all rounders..
  8. i cant believe anyone would put a muzzle on a ferret then put them to work, bang out of order ! & who cares if youngens are under ground, they need controlling too.... the idea is to wipe out all the rabbits.. rich
  9. We all have an opinion of course and I am not the biggest Quad fan in the world, Much prefered the old Finnfire, but I struggle to understand that one, the Synthetic is probably the "cheapest" feel, but I still don't see it feels like a cheap toy with cheap build quality.. But I would like to see a decent "rubber" Butt pad rather than this plastic thing they fit!! (yes..I know it is only a rimmy but I still prefer them!!) Also note... they are about to introduce a new wooden stock for the quad based on the Finnfire!! when i say cheap toy quality, its when you tap on the side of
  10. i own 2 ruger 10/22T`s bull nose barrels & a cz varmint... the rugers are a great gun when running nicely, can have trouble with the mags if not set up right & as said above, the action does need cleaning every 300/400 rounds to have a trouble free shoot.. now the cz is in a class of its own... bang-on accurate with eley subs & never jammed on me.. personally i would go for a cz varmint.. have you ever held the sako quad ? i have, & it feels like a cheap toy with cheap build quality.. the only benefit in owning a quad is that you can have seperate barrels, but
  11. Hi Rich, Nope, lots of head scratching I'll try dyeing the dummy net at some point but Im a bit focused on long netting when the harvesting starts at the mo. It should be any day now, so Ive just made another 3 50 yard 4z sheet long nets ready for it Hopefully 300 yards in total will be enough..should be fun anyway. How did you get on with the cam? G. keep us posted with some pictures when you get the net sorted ..... havent put the cam under ground yet, waiting for another couple of months to try it on a certain warren.... rich
  12. this is the only decent photo i got from last night, to be honest, there wasnt time to take any photos through the night, the land was alive... as pat says, in total we collected 60 & i reckon between 10 to 20 were left as we couldnt see where they fell in the shrubbery.... pat was using the anchultz, & i was using my cz varmint pictured below..
  13. ordered a few new mags recently.. one of them was the tactical innovations 25 rnd mag for the ruger 10/22... it was only by luck that i managed to get hold of this one as there very hard to come & the usa have stopped the exportation of high capicity magazines. the difference with TI mags compared to the butler creek is that there adjustable so that you can change the position that they sit in the receiver to suit the bullet height, bullet feed angle & camber " left & right adjustment " & can also be opened up to clean. ill be putting this through its paces in the n
  14. hi G any joy yet ? rich
  15. i like it... that will keep them nice & cool...
  16. to be honest steve, one of those butler sinks will be way too big for my set-up... im going to make a 2" shallow pool for them to cool down in the base of the run... hard to explain how im going to do it but ill get some shots of it up as soon as i get it sorted.. rich
  17. thanks steve... oh, & by the way, its because of you im building this, after the Mrs saw your set-up she aint stopped going on at me about getting one done... :glare: dont suspose you have any mini jacuzzis going ? im going to be keeping an area for them to cool down, great idea what you done there..
  18. cheers HJ.. the lower uprights will be planed at the angle following the higher uprights so that the roof panel will sit flush.. i havent finished the frame off yet, still have to put 2, one lower & one higher beam horizontally across from corner to corner, i ran out of wood..
  19. not that im 100% sure, but i reckon they have to be locked up as if used on a firearm they have to be put on a slot & when a new one is bought the FEO has to be notified. i have 3 mods, 2 are on my rifles and the other stays locked up in the top ammo box when not in use.. best to keep them locked up just incase... rich
  20. been putting it off for ages, but finally got round to starting the outside run today.. just started to put the frame up using 3x2 treated timber... going to board the far side off using treated timber ply & have 3 quarter " mesh on the front & near side & felt the roof. going to plan stuff as i go along.. rich managed some more today.... cut the lower struts flush with the rest of the frame, sorted out the electrics, have a 50w unit inside with a water proof switch fitted externally then onto a fused spur... also attached a front se
  21. well that goes without saying, i clean mine first thing in the morning & in the evening, got 8 of them, so its got to be done. but it doesnt matter how often you clean, you will always get flies.
  22. ive started using fly papers in the court & have seen good results, these were caught in a few days. i have it place just above the shit corner where the litter tray is, im lucky that they only use one corner to crap. what do you lot use to have good results with ? rich
