    Micky , dead is dead mate , the .270 is really plenty of gun for our deer , It was my 1st deer rifle which I shot for a few years taking plenty of fallow & reds with it & the only time they needed following was down to me not putting the round on money ..I now shoot a 6.5 x55 that again does the job very well on the fallow & roe , with very little meat loss . I have not shot a red with it yet but cant see one standing up if the round is in the right place ...

    Its not just here , I was over in spain fishing on the Ebro , had a great time & caught a few big cats ..the eastern boys where camped up & every thing they caught was put on a stringer , on the third day a fridge van came down & every fish (cats to a 100lb , carp to 40lb ) were knocked on the head & carted away ..when I asked our guide about it he said it wasn't illegal so their was nothing he could do ..I can see an end to a tourist goldmine ..

    Micky , the deer over here hit with a .270 normally only need picking up ...not finding ! ..we use the .06 in the park on fallow & I personally think its a bit to much gun ..there a bit smaller than some of your deer ... I wasn't trying to offend anyone with a delicate shoulder condition. (your probably just a better shot) Micky , I was thinking more of the deer than the shooter... ...

    Hi H , its turned into an elastic job !! ..just keeps stretching ...but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so should be back in retirement on the deer before to long ..

    Fcuk ...that was a hard watch .Really felt for the man , these politicians really do need to get some balls & get this problem sorted .The number of badgers is now beyond belief , on a trip from sussex to Hampshire & back we counted 21 dead badgers !! (good riddance ) compared to 5dead foxes ..Their either four times worse at crossing the road or their is four times more of them ....

    I load on a couple of shoots & the amount of people shooting 20's now is not far of 50 %..with the Belgium guns its almost 90% & they kill every bit as good as a twelve ..The best shot I see last season was a partridge that 3 guns couldn't touch & was folded by a French lady using a 20 bore with 28gr 6's..they are with out doubt up to the job ..

    A fallow yearling or pricket wants some beating ...sirloin thinly sliced longways , dipped in a marinade of olive oil , teriyaki , garlic black pepper on a hot bbq turned straight away then into a warm pitta with some fresh salad ...roll on summer !!

    Ross , over the years I've had or tried most of the decent makes of binoculars on the market & while some are very good value for money the three that stand out are Swarovski , Ziess & Leupold...all expensive , but quality..my choice are the swaro's ..great optics with brilliant backup ..
