  1. Love to see any old pics, thanks
  2. Nice dogs, bonny pups and a very well put ad. Very refreshing to see, best of luck with the sale.
  3. Simple and true Dotty, form should always follow function
  4. Just my opinion Simo but I'd see a reverse 3/4 as the last 'true' lurcher, i've seen a few and have found it hard to tell if their's sighthound in 'em. So anythin further is the purebred with a drop of sighthound. To me, a lurcher is a specific bred animal, amalgamating a sight hound and 'any' none sight hound to create a useful hunting dog. Far to many people get hung up on fractions.... If it looks and performes like a lurcher, then it is a fecking lurcher!!!
  5. matey you say the ped means f**k all. your so very wrong, the ped and breeding of both the bull, aswell as the original greyhound used was the best of the best- in the breeding of the best bull lurchers. then you forget about crossing bull with grey, as you can breed best to best bull crosses, test em hard and cull the shite. this is how we made lines of game lurchers that make light work out of heavy jobs. that is the problem, people breed off bulls that have not been thoroughly tested and bred off tested lines, same as using retired track greyhounds given away for nowt as brood bitches d
  6. That is a stunning beast, my kind of dog. Is that the dog I have met Bosun? Yup
  7. 26", you'll find a fair bit of info on the dog on here, his name was Pie.
  8. Gt. Grandson. The last of the line for me.
  9. Genuine 'game bred' half cross. His daughter. His grandson. Another grandson (Pre-ban).
  10. I'm a Dyslexic, Agnostic, Insomniac.... I lie awake at nights, wondering if their really is a 'Dog'????
  11. Great photo's as usual Bird Love watchin a dog take feather well, seein that stalk, the anticipation, then the jumping strike with a prize landing, well.... I've only owned one dog that did it well. Most of the dogs I owned hunted Phesant and Patridge good enough but just no end product. My latest mutt is getting nearer, he's juming after 'em now but just not made 'a connection' yet, time will tell.
  12. Good reading yet again Artic, cheers!
  13. Ha ha, that i know WW, but your last line 'hit true', thats what i'm postin about! Though it does make me laugh at some of the 'informed' reply's on this thred!
  14. Oh for fecks sake, get a feckin grip an talk feckin english...! :censor Still tryin to work out what the thred is all about...'Pre Brown Scotland'....Yep, i've honestly, had a dog that did 'em, an on the flat lands too! Maybe it was special......????
  15. Damn Mr Rabbit, you sound like me.... Well done and thank you!
  16. Err, yup, think thats just about what I was sayin...?.....!!!!
  17. Christ, five pages of utter shite! Some have spoke as it is and was but who's argueing, the majority speaking all seem to be the decent dog lads on here??? Simples, you can't make a distance runner out of a sprinter! Yep, you may get the exception to the rule, it's in all forms of nature BUT anyone who reads this and dosen't recognise why you'd want a crossbred over a pure, better be under 16 or needs to go back to rolling 'worms' in the white room (i gotta problem Nurse Ratched!!) Enough 'detail' is out there!!!! Our dogs have been formed by breeding the best to the best, irrispective of
  18. Me too...I've been racking my brains all afternoon and calling people. I know it's silly to get emotionally involved but it's the pups I feel concerned about. We've only bred the odd litter over the last 24 years and have had good homes lined up well before the pups were born. I think working dogs need so much more 'protection' than pet dogs. You can't get any better home for a Lurcher or Terrier than a good, knowledgable working home...however if that dog falls into unscrupulous hands, their lives can be a living hell. Ha ha, as, no matter what, i'm dog daft. Nowt stirs me quite as m
  19. I think it's a head wrecker for any decent self respecting dogman and i'd agre with you all. Bolio, that tales a sad one but your concence is clear, you know the score It's funny but the first thing I thought of when I read the ad was, would I know any decent folk who would take a pup? Sadley I don't, but dreamer that I am, I'd like to think one or two find good homes, warm beds and plenty of graft and maybe, just maybe, one might become a legend!

    Lamping

Yup, I was also out on Monday, definatley the 'right sort' of night or so you'd be led to belive but for me an Timmyk it was a poor one too, few bunnys on the ground and precious little to show for a few hours out, except for some facial sand rash and a very sore knee. I've long since given up on what would be the 'perfect' night, to me that would be the night i can stay out longer! Good write up Artic
  21. I'd agree with Simo. Thing is, not to flustrate a young dog, if you find its not catching, maybe a little more time is required or a better night or a better speck? Never overtry! Give your pup 'THE' best possible chances, he/she must go home on a 'high', either with a few successes or a few 'near' misses. Confidence, not flustration is the key!!
