  1. I was thinking a guide would be a good option for a novice sea trout/river angler. Thanks again for the useful information gents
  2. Hoping to persuade the good lady to let me disappear to Wales for a couple of days this summer, hopefully to catch a sea trout. Would anyone have any suggestions as a good place to go? Not looking for a monster, just a small river to cast a fly at night
  3. He's is taking a floating line, will that be suitable, and is it best to wade?
  4. My father is heading that way in June, and was wondering if it is worth fly fishing from the bank?
  5. When I get my small stream fly outfit together, am I right in thinking a DT fly line is better for short delicate casts, as opposed to a WF, or does it not matter too much? Many thanks
  6. As long as the knobs with rifles and electronic callers stay in bed!
  7. What is the LEGAL minimum length for a shotgun?
  8. those people who shoot foxes all spring and summer are the cruel ones, leaving Cubs to starve in an earth, not those who get called out to remove a problem fox quickly and humanely on the spot
  9. Anyone have one for sale or know of any that are please
  10. One thing I would say, if you are new, bring something to the table. Invite them to your own permo, and if you don't have any try and get some. You have to make the effort too

Ignorant and ego fuelled cowboys will be the death of the sport

I am fairly new to the terrier game myself, and was lucky enough to be mentored by a proper old dog man, until he sadly passed away. But with the way things are going in the hunting world, with pressure from anti's, dog thieves and just general bell ends, I'm not sure I would risk taking someone who is starting out, but that I couldn't vouch for 100% for a mooch with the dogs. On the other hand without people willing to teach others, does this mean a slow death and a loss of precious experience and advice for the d
  13. I find that hard to believe mate! ?
  14. Can a dog tell if an earth is occupied from smelling at a hole? Can it feck!Especially at this time of year when vixens can give off little or no scent Cheers, D. if my dog says there's no one home I trust him. You must spend a long time digging holes in the ground
  15. If the earth was empty why did the trusted dog run through it?
  16. in my first season, and facing the same question myself. Since the gent I used to dig with passed away, and learning about my permo's as I go, it is a concern. One of the spots we tried marked at 15ft! There is another good lad I have been out with, but finding a time that is convenient to us both ain't easy! Good luck squire
  17. Good day, hopefully the first of many more to come
