  1. Wondered if anyone would be willing to let a novice and patterdale tag along. She is calm, steady, quiet and broken to livestock and chickens.I will be getting some permission soon, but looking for someone to give me the heads up. Id be happy to part with some of my freerange pork or lamb as payment
  2. Really glad i asked this ques, im learning a lot! Funnily enough a mate and i were having a conversation the other day (i really need to get out more), about how you never see white dog shite, like i used to when i was a kid. Is it because their is no bonemeal in their food anymore? Is their less bone and meat in shop bought food? Careful, it will make you go blind if you get it in your eye ha ha
  3. So far the dogs have done well on a shop bought famous dog food, but as i am hoping to do a bit of terrier work now, would they do better on a different food? Dont know what you lot choose to feed your dogs on, whether its raw meat or a home made food, but does that give them the extra stamina and condition they need out in the field? Might just be a case of "if it aint broke", but good to hear your views
  4. Mornin all, another novice ques im afraid. My patt bitch is 4 and hasnt had any jabs since her initial ones as a pup. She is used to mooching about and mixing with the livestock, but as i am hoping to start ratting with her soon, do you think she ought to have a booster jab from the vet to protect her from lepto, or will she have built up antibodies from the first vacs? What are your thoughts?
  5. Thanks folks. Seems to be less terrier clubs and work down here in the south east, more shooting. Must be all the money about, wish some of it came my way!
  6. Thanks gents (sorry to any ladies), i get the point. Im afraid their may be a few more obvious (not to me) ques coming your way in the not too distant future
  7. Hi, im a novice to fieldsports, but listening and learning all the time. I have a patt, and patt/russell pup, am the only one in my family or friends who loves the countryside, and country pursuits. Been a fisherman for years, but am now looking forward to working the dogs. Hoping to learn from all your years of experience thanks
  8. Evenin everyone, i will appologise now if my ques seems daft, but im starting from scratch with no hunting background, and you has to start somewhere. After loads of reading, talking to people, and getting to know my local hunting folk, i may get the chance to take my tykes out and use the instinct they were bred with. Its been tough, as none of my family or friends have ever taken an interest in country pursuits, or even kept dogs before! I have a 4 year old patt bitch who i intended to work when i first got her as a pup, but family, life and work put paid to that! She is a calm steady girl,
