  1. Seen a folding Italian shotgun, that could suit my needs. But, and a big but, it has a big crack along the top of the stock from the action. Are there any cheap fixes? Don't need to be pretty at all
  2. Cracking fish, nothing like a big Sargent, and a personal favourite of mine. 3lb 9 oz, but never a 4. Maybe this winter.....
  3. Calm down gents. If it's an active earth, that had Cubs outside not long beforehand, I can't see a major problem in letting his pup take a look once. We all have to learn as we go, it's not the end of the world
  4. I did today he went in 2 body lengths on lead no encouragement You will have just moved the Cubs now ?
  5. Enquiring for a friend, do you gents know of any small syndicates that have a space? Doesn't mind if it's walk one/stand one, less than a 100 birds would be ideal, just relaxed and friendly. Thanks Gents
  6. I think there will be a shortage of ex layers this season.
  7. With poults, if they were 7 weeks at the end of August, when would they be ready/fly well?
  8. Do you think poults are a better first time choice?
  9. Hoping to put a few birds down this year for a little rough shooting. Wondered what you gents thought the pro's and con's were with ex layers? Many thanks
  10. Topic is about cleaning and looking after your dog, not treatment of injuries
  11. This topic was meant for the new lads or those who are considering it. Surely the seasoned terrier men know what they are doing, and I have no wish to teach grandmother how to suck eggs.
  12. With some new gents appearing to be starting up in the terrier game, they seem to get lots of advice on how to start, what type of dog, when's the best time, and the usual "get the right dog, and give it a go" suggestion. But lately I have seen little mention of how to look care for your dog after a dig. As soon as you can, don't forget to wash out and check their eyes for dirt and sand. Clean out their teeth, remove any mud/clay or bits of root, and give them and any scratches a thorough rinse off with salty water or whatever you prefer. Continue rinsing for a couple of days. Happy hunting
  13. How big a release pen would you need to put down 40 or 50 birds in a copse?
  14. Smashing, I'm deeply envious
  15. I would say discretion is the betterment part of Valour
  16. A smaller more intimate river would be my preferred option
