  1. I remember someone telling me years ago about weasels doing nests up trees and I was a bit doubtful of it till today. I was setting a couple of squirrel traps when I heard a bit of commotion up a tree and looked up to see a stoat after a half grown grey squirrel about 20ft up a lime tree which she caught in the end and carried back down to the ground. They're nearly as agile as squirrels . All this while me and my mate were stood about 5ft away from the tree. Anyone else ever seen them up trees? Hopefully she'll stick to greys and leave the reds alone. Gnipper
  2. Seen this b*****d the other day in my chicken pen and he was in no hurry to run off so set 2 body grippers and a fenn, picture taken with a brick thats about 22 1/2cm. The body gripper still seemed to close ok
  3. It has to be proper cold to get my border in his kennel, either that or when he sees the hose pipe He will sleep in the middle of the lawn in proper rain without batting an eye lid
  4. There is a lot to breeding rats mate, far harder than mice. Have a browse on a reptile forum for more info on the best/cheapest/most productive ways and i'm pretty sure you'll change your mind. Rabbits would probably be easier and you will get more food from them. I've bred mice and gerbils for feeding and like they say a watched pot never boils, when you need younguns they eat their own
  5. Stick them in a run and stand by with cups of water Or you could try distracting them with a noise every time the older one goes to scruff the youngun until he forgets to do it. My best jill is a fecker for scrapping with youngsters and other jills, last year I got a jill kit back out of my old strain though who absolutely battered the cranky bitch
  6. I do alright with it mate, ran out of cartridges today though so i'm gonna try and find some better ones. I've had pigeon that were decent shots for a 12 bore and i've also shot a few teal with it. I need to find some Fiocchi cartridges as the express and gamebore ones are wank. I was gonna take my 12 today as I have more cartridges for that but I would have ended up doing more digging. Gnipper
  7. Mum is the sandy and dads the silver. Dad did really well today, mum is a bit fast for where I was ferreting
  8. Mum and dad had a bit of action this morning John
  9. I'd say she was 15/16 weeks old and just about to lose her baby face. TOMO the hob I got this year is just a tiny bit bigger than my jill of you, maybe an inch. Hopefully he works well this season. His sister is really small.
  10. That just shows how to reduce the play in the trigger and doesnt show how to make it more sensitive. A stoat could probably run through without it going off. I'm going to try a bit more filing in a bit and see how i get on.
  11. Cheers, I didn't want to go filing the feck out of them and then realise i've bollocksed it up, think twice- cut once. They're a bit cheaper in the states for people to practise on aren't they
  12. The ones I have the dog thing sits on the trigger properly but they still take quite a bit of pressure to fire them? When its set there is still a gap in the semi circular groove at the top above the trigger. Cheers, gnipper
  13. How do I adjust the triggers on these so they are really sensitive? It takes a good shove on the wire to set off the trap. Also how do you set up the wire on yours for best effect? Pics would be helpful too
  14. Sounds like my babies are working well for you John Good going there Netter, hopefully i'll be able to find somewhere soon that you can see the floor and try for the bunnies. Gnipper

  18. The back feet don't tend to get that bad mate and I use human nail clippers too held on the side. Hold the ferret tight in my left and snip with the right. They normally struggle for a couple of nails then relax, then wriggle like feck again when they know you've relaxed your grip and aren't expecting it
  19. What does snipe taste like then Foxy???
  20. Cheers John He's gone now too
  21. Can i bring my over and under That new bitch of yours looks bigger than your ban????
  22. I'll have a go when i get home mate, basically an average hob though not dark or light coloured just normal poley, he's quite long/lean build unlike my silver who i can't get my hand round. Normal sized too.
  23. Got a polecat hob to rehome here, bred by my father in law but out of my ferrets. He's pretty much full grown i'd say and well ready to go out. Free to good home, pm if interested Gnipper
