  1. Cheers CC, I posted on another forum as well, it seems to be the mauser 98 action and the way its built. Thanks for the reply. Toddy
  2. I've a chance to buy an old Parker Hale, Mauser actioned .270w but I've noticed that when the bolt is all the way to the rear, there is a lot of play or movement from side to side and up and down in the bolt. I've no experience of Mauser action rifles and was wondering if this is normal? The bolt cycles smoothly and locks securely though, what are your thoughts please? Toddy
  3. Ned, Thanks for sharing this with us, top thread and a great read. Thanks for taking the time to put this up so we can all enjoy it too. Cheers. TT.
  4. Count me in too please. Looks like a great product, best of luck with it.
  5. Thats my neck of the woods mate. I havent heard but I' ll ask about and let you know. ATB, TT.
  6. A good place to start will be with your keeper friend, he will be able to put you in touch with a breeder of good pups, I think that this is the best time of year to get one. He will also be able to introduce you to other beaters and those who use their dogs for picking up, they will be able to help you with trainig your pup. When you get one, feel free to PM me and I will give you any help that I can, although Im no expert. Like everything else, youll get out of a pup what you put into it. All the best, TT.
  7. Beautiful pup mate, congratulations. As everyone else has said, take your time, you have a great oppurtunity now to build a really strong bond wtih your pup, just by being the source of all that is pleasurable in its life, ie lots of time spent together playing fun and games. The time spent now building that bond between you is irreplacable and is worth more than anything you would ever achieve by starting training early. Best of luck, TT.
  8. I ordered Fenn mark IVs off John B from this site and Fourteenacre, he went out of his way to save me money on the postage and the traps are top quality, I know I ll get years of use from them. I ordered them yesterday and they were on my doorstep for 9.30 this morning. Quality product and a top quality service, I would definately buy from him again. Cheers, TT.
  9. One or two crow decoys amongst our pigeon deeks add realism and give the birds more confidence in our neck of the woods. In fact when going pigeon shooting I take a crow call with me as well as crow deeks and we have had some good shooting as a result. I would imagine if it works here, it should work in your area too. Try it and see. Cheers, TT.
  10. Nice one mate, must be a very satisfying feeling. TT.

  12. Good numbers of them in Co. Antrim, providing good sport. We are seeing a few each day with normally a brace being shot. All adult birds so far.
