  1. You can bet Packham’s lot will be trying their best to get these new gl’s stopped as well. They aren’t going to be happy, as what they thought they’ve achieved has been pulled right back from them. They were even challenging the new crow license, reckoning that individuals shouldn’t be allowed to asses whether to use lethal methods or not. Also, that game birds aren’t ‘kept’ birds, so shouldn’t be protected from crows. Whether or not they can find anything illegal about these new licenses is another matter though?
  2. Nice piece SD. Does it work on magpies??
  3. Had a bit of time on my hands maybe, well I must have because I thought I’d weigh a few different old style pellets, with a couple of newer ones thrown in, and shoot them over the chrono. I took and average of five shots with each brand of pellet for velocity and energy readings. This gun was made in 1958 so it’s a bit of an old timer really. Anyway, here’s the results to bore anyone who’s still reading this. A fair bit of variation, but as I thought, prefers the old wasps, just over five ft lb. Not bad for an old piece really. Milbro Caledonian. 13.1g V=353. E=3.62 Milbro Select.
  4. It will be a closed ticket for rimfire at first, I hadn’t thought of that?
  5. Looks like a serious bit of kit vm. However, running at those power levels it’s competing against a .22 rimfire. I can run a .22 rimfire from as low as 27ft lb bb caps and cb caps through cb long, short, z Lang at 30, 40 and 50ft lb. rws subs at 75ft lb, standard subs at 90-100ft lb, up to hv’s at 130, 140ft lb, and hyper at 170 and 190ft lb. The .22 rimfire is very versatile, so if you have both, and I know you’re in the market for a couple of rimfires, it seems like a big investment that’s all. Not a criticism in any way, just a thought really. I can see the usefulness of your .22 crown, and
  6. How many rounds of each have you requested told hold on your fac VM?
  7. The 457’s haven’t been out that long. I’ve had a good look at them, but haven’t shot one. The new tikka’s shoot well, but if I was buying a new hmr, I’m pretty sure it’d be a t-bolt varmint carbine in stainless.
  8. I use an LEI .17 dedicated mod. It’s small, well made, works well, but, they are expensive for a rimfire mod.
  9. Dung beetles like fresh steaming dung, the juicier the better.
  10. Good shooting bn. A bit of a shame that you couldn’t clear some of the ferals and jackdaws. I’ve applied for and individual licence for such situations. You can use it on the grounds of reducing the spread of disease and contamination of food for livestock. Once submitted, and you keep proof that you have submitted it, the license can be acted on as a means of urgency whilst you are waiting for it to be processed. If indeed NE ever manage to get around to processing it. I understand that they’re a bit busy at the moment ?...........
  11. I agree, and for me, as short as I can practically/legally get away with.
  12. Have you considered a t-bolt? A couple of friends have them in the stainless varmint carbine and they are accurate. The ten shot mag on those things is great as well.
  13. I’ve got one of these too, just use it for a few boxes of shotgun cartridges and a small camera in there. Seems fairly strong for the money. One of my safes is GVL Goliath. Probably the best safe I’ve seen, had it over 30 years and the firearms officers that have seen it comment on how strong it is. I tried to drill some more bolt holes in it once. No chance, drill wouldn’t touch it. Makes my brattonsounds look toytown by comparison.
  14. I’ve found .25 marksman work well below 12ft lbs.
