  1. I put angle iron on all corners/edges and I have door holes holes made, it makes them look pretty
  2. I have even thought of going to the sales to buy an old knacker, to put on the freezer for me an the hounds, you can get em for peanuts. (I didn't, thought it might be illegal ). A French man told me "the best age to eat them is about 15 years plus" after I told him I thought they were a bit tasteless compared to beef.
  3. Very true, but you can trust some peoples judgement if the stud has a good name and produced good offspring.
  4. Save your money and buy a pint or fifty .
  5. I rarely bath accessible cuts like that, maybe at first but no more. In my experience, if a dog can clean itself, it will.

  7. I have a tactical Bob Dozier folder, a USMC and a Kabar Bowie. All would serve your purpose, although the folder only has a 4" blade. They are I think high carbon steel, apart from the folder which I think is AUS8. For your usage you must really learn how to sharpen blades. I purchased them all second hand from other forums.
  8. Ka-bar, great knives. Well strong and have a good name. They make military spec knives. I have three .

  10. Miendle and Lowa have been the best. I look after my boots well, but if your getting leather wet through daily, it does them no favours. With these new kevlar jobbies, you can't even treat them., only the rear of the boot. I think if you don't allow the boot to dry properly, the gortex fails eventually. If your using the boots daily, sometimes you just can't dry them. Conclusion: Boots for tough terrain and thick cover, wellies for mud and wet. Also having different changes of footwear give boots a chance to dry properly and also a chance to treat them.
  11. The people who are giving 5 years, 6 years, 7 years on a pair of boots. Are you wearing them daily or do you only weigh 6 stone? I've had Lowa, Miendle, Brasher and now I'm in Harkila Pro GTX Kevlar. None of them have lasted more than, well I've replaced them at two years. The most recent the Harkila, although tough as "old boots" they started leaking in less than a year, but these were replaced and I must say I haven't got a great deal of confidence with them. So this year it's been mainly wellies. The main thing that ruins boots for me is the brambles, it completely fecks the leather,
  12. Feck that! How did she stay upright?
  13. Skin, swede, feet, puff and bollox.
  14. Get a new vet. Jills bleeding when in season is not good at all, ferrets do not menstruate as you have described. Allowing jills to remain in season causes Oestrogen Toxidity, this causes bone marrow to significantly reduce production levels of and/or produce non-functioning rbc, wbc and platelets, leading to Aplastic Anaemia, infection, and internal hemorrhage. Mochastorm is correct in stating that diet has no significant bearing on these particular reproductive issues. Atb. Cheer's buddy. The vet in question was a customer and thankfully I wasn't paying him ( I don't like
  15. I wasn't saying that it had any effect on hormone levels. Read my post. My Jill's never lose any noticeable condition. In fact they are quite often fat. Could you tell me other than making a Jill retain the blood loss due to bleeding. What benefit does bringing a Jill out of season have?
  16. Sorry I need to rant on a bit. If ever I was going to sell a dog to a 16 year old, I would have to go and give his parents an interview. Asking them all about the welfare of dogs and what part they would play in this dogs future. And what they would do about incidents like this?
  17. I've read all of this and feel for the lad. Do yourself a favour and stick with the one dog. Your still at school so obviously not at work and don't have spare cash. What did your parents say when you come home with another dog? At 16 mine would of said "get that thing the feck out of my house." I was working full time and I could only afford to keep a terrier, a ferret and me bollocks So yeah, learn a lesson and stick to what you can afford. Good luck Lad, look after your whippet and get yourself a ferret instead of a bull cross.
  18. I mean I've never had a problem with my Jill's being in or out of season. Jill's in season bleed, when they bleed for a long time they start to suffer from "anaemia" and come out of season. Once the blood levels build up, the Jill comes back in season and this will be the cycle. If this continues to happen with an inadequate diet your Jill could die. If you feed quality food such as whole animals you won't suffer from these symptoms. I once asked a vet about death in female ferrets while in season and why I had never suffered. He said because of the diet your feeding and gave me the a
  19. Feed you Jill's a good quality flesh diet, birds, rabbits etc. I have never had a problem with Jill's in over 30 years. What are you concerned about?
  20. That's a bit out of order, probably only wanted his beak trimmed .
  21. Just read the post properly.
  22. Well done mate. Think of a better ad, I'm sure your friend will find a good stud. Sorry about the ribbing, but you sort of deserved it.
  23. Pot, kettle, black. Oh and I filled in the punctuation for you.
