  1. Skin, swede, feet, puff and bollox.
  2. Get a new vet. Jills bleeding when in season is not good at all, ferrets do not menstruate as you have described. Allowing jills to remain in season causes Oestrogen Toxidity, this causes bone marrow to significantly reduce production levels of and/or produce non-functioning rbc, wbc and platelets, leading to Aplastic Anaemia, infection, and internal hemorrhage. Mochastorm is correct in stating that diet has no significant bearing on these particular reproductive issues. Atb. Cheer's buddy. The vet in question was a customer and thankfully I wasn't paying him ( I don't like
  3. I wasn't saying that it had any effect on hormone levels. Read my post. My Jill's never lose any noticeable condition. In fact they are quite often fat. Could you tell me other than making a Jill retain the blood loss due to bleeding. What benefit does bringing a Jill out of season have?
  4. Sorry I need to rant on a bit. If ever I was going to sell a dog to a 16 year old, I would have to go and give his parents an interview. Asking them all about the welfare of dogs and what part they would play in this dogs future. And what they would do about incidents like this?
  5. I've read all of this and feel for the lad. Do yourself a favour and stick with the one dog. Your still at school so obviously not at work and don't have spare cash. What did your parents say when you come home with another dog? At 16 mine would of said "get that thing the feck out of my house." I was working full time and I could only afford to keep a terrier, a ferret and me bollocks So yeah, learn a lesson and stick to what you can afford. Good luck Lad, look after your whippet and get yourself a ferret instead of a bull cross.
  6. I mean I've never had a problem with my Jill's being in or out of season. Jill's in season bleed, when they bleed for a long time they start to suffer from "anaemia" and come out of season. Once the blood levels build up, the Jill comes back in season and this will be the cycle. If this continues to happen with an inadequate diet your Jill could die. If you feed quality food such as whole animals you won't suffer from these symptoms. I once asked a vet about death in female ferrets while in season and why I had never suffered. He said because of the diet your feeding and gave me the a
  7. Feed you Jill's a good quality flesh diet, birds, rabbits etc. I have never had a problem with Jill's in over 30 years. What are you concerned about?
  8. That's a bit out of order, probably only wanted his beak trimmed .
  9. Just read the post properly.
  10. Well done mate. Think of a better ad, I'm sure your friend will find a good stud. Sorry about the ribbing, but you sort of deserved it.
  11. Pot, kettle, black. Oh and I filled in the punctuation for you.
  12. I got a road kill Fallow hanging up in the barn. Got given it yesterday, the gut had burst and I had to wash it out with a watering can and a dust pan brush. It had been hit so bad the entire sternum had been detached from the ribs and was hanging by its lower chest/neck area.............. Lovely! I will update you to let you know if there is any meat suitable for human consumption .
  13. To right, we've got used to it and it would never taste the same.

  18. I have a SS collar that's into its second dog .
  19. Didn't read it all because I know what they do. I have owned various working dogs for over 30 years and during that time have had arguments with more than a few vets, two of which have lead to court proceedings. Needless to say they were told "fcuk you, see you in court" and they never did. If you don't know your vet personally, get a second opinion, a lot of them are after shafting you.
  20. Not at all mate. It's all them naked air rifle meets they keep going to
