  1. She is around 11tts and weighs 5.6kg when fully fit, she has outcross blood in here 2 generations back but they seem to breed to type nowadays atb
  2. Won't be from her sadly terrier15 as she was spayed young due to a womb infection following her second season, was gutted at the time as she matures it gets all the more gutting tbh as she suits my needs work wise and has a bob on temperament.
  3. Did a Nice little jink on the strike to be fair
  4. Just a little of video of the sporting Lucas bolting from a log pile at the farm recently. I know these little dogs aren't particularly well known and like many types/ breeds there are some shite examples out there, but have to say my little bitch is decent enough for me and suits our needs. She is a tireless little bushing dog, packs well has a bit more brain imo than other terriers we have and have kept in the past. She has dropped in a few times but in the main this isn't an issue and her recall is pretty solid (unless on the back of something and then you have no chance, but the again I wo
  5. Not sure if the link will work but hopefully a bit of action of the young lurcher starting to learn the ropes. Rabbit bolted by the Slt, Ignore the geriatric Russell who nearly died after the bolt she is very much in her twilight but my old man is a softy and she tags along. Alfie first real season this time after just mooching around with my old mans older Beddie lurcher last season and the terriers. Alfie has been keen as from early age but pretty easy going and thankfully he still dotes on me so training has gone pretty smoothly barring an annoying habit he seems to have passed where he wo
  6. Not always true that a dog will hunt up at night if you allow it in the day, that's not giving a dog the credit they deserve. Mine will huntt up naturally in the day and I do very little to rain him in tbh. But at night he will heal without too much encouragement and also bombs straight back after a run with the occasional blip and always has done at night tbh seems to just understand it's a different plan of action at night .
  7. Nearly started a thread on this one last week. I don't do a lot of lamping but what with work have been out later than usual start of this season. I have a young lurcher who has done a bit on the lamp and is eventually pretty well behaved, so have given him a bit of a free reign for the last month or so on our nightly wanders. Usually first field he bombs around a little bit but in fairness settles down after a leg stretch and he can be worked pretty well of lead imo anyway. He is only young and will wander if I let him but returns with a little whistle, probably would catch more with him on t
  8. Usually the steady busher that finds it's game in my experience, used to take my brothers border out with the pack she passed away recently but worked steady as you like in her day lost count of how many times she hung back and picked off something in cover. Other faster/ younger dogs often missed or for distracted on multiple scent, nothing wrong with steady especially when the runners start to clock on to hanging back jmo
  9. Had the same issues or 4 dogs all sound with others but the terrier especially has to go and sniff every dog around and say hello to every person we see. I don't discourage it as think it's part of socialising but the amount of dogs we meet on walks who are wanting a scrap is sad really and generally the owners are flapping around making there dogs worse. All the more reason to wander of the beaten track in my eyes atb
  10. I have a small young whippet x lurcher at the minute that yips in the daytime when he is over matched. I suppose I could use a slip lead and restrict his runs and try and break the habit but in all honesty I am learning to live with it. He does it when over matched, but the way I like to mooch about and hunt, these situations sometimes are unavoidable. It not a desirable trait but then he is a committed little fellow bit limited by his physical size a bit and so frustration can not be avoided sometimes. Get him on the lamp and the odds are stacked more in his favour and he has never made a sou
  11. my little fella is the same way breed more whippet in the mix than anything, suits me fine no world beater at 22tts but pretty durable to date atb
  12. Few of our little pack missing an additional border terrier and the occasional little Russell, the collie tags along at the farm atb
  13. I have used it for a few years and like it I buy it in a roll from eBay works out cheaper and have a few sets to alternate when ur needs cleaning. It's one of the few things none of them chew and is neater than blankets etc
  14. He runs a Facebook page called the real sporting Lucas terrier and can be contacted through the page he seems to be on most days atb
  15. As has been said great thread, this guys not a pure whippet but close, what he lacks in size he tries to make up for in drive atb
  16. It is sporting Lucas terrier used to flush game mainly to lurchers occasionally the gun, she has ferreted in the past. She is a good little bitch imo tests the patience occasionally when she follows a line but lives to hunt atb
  17. Great news that, had the same situation as a kid with a little jack Russell bitch I loved sadly she also returned to the spot where my old man had parked and got knocked over still chokes me up to this day. Glad it ended well for your tyke and she's on the mend atb
  18. Nice like it's going to be able to shift a fair bit, lovely pup atb
  19. Few recent ones I like, apologies if they have been up before. Been a bit warm of late but keep them ticking over during the summer months atb buffoon in action The old fella taking the glory as usual
  20. She is a bouvier, serious handful as a pup but settled down and loyal as you like. In her peak she was around 40kg and a bit of beast, nowadays she lazies around farting, still scares the postman mind. Good option for a guarding breed in my eyes as they are generally happy with lazing around once past puppy stage but kick into action as required atb
  21. Been up before but this bitch was a serious guard a few years back. Not a dog you could just leave in the yard without human contact, but a natural guarding breed that is unbelievably loyal atb
