  1. There are folk still breeding decent whippets for the right reasons and not charging the daft prices, but a google on pets 4 homes etc won’t find you one tbf the same as it won’t for any dog type. Most decent bred whippets are lunatics runners ime heart in your mouth stuff. I would agree plenty of dross being bred though but again same for any breed. But if homework and waiting time will find most a decent rabbit dog imo
  2. My oldman and grandad were into racing back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s and we owned a few greyhounds most came from Ireland as youngsters from what I remember. The two I can really remember at home, one tomahawk (Tom) was an excellent dog on the track and grade A sprint dog, big powerful fawn dog who my dad ruined in the field, much to my grandads annoyance lol he still had a good shortish career despite losing a few toes from what I remember. Speaking to my dad he ran him sensibly in the field and says he was a very clever runner but never retrieved anything. The second a bitch Lady Poppin
  3. Yes I meant living with as during off time in the home. I am not a fan of dogs flying around the house prating around lol tbh barring when they are very very young I don’t encourage any play indoors at all. It has worked for me as the dogs I have had (variety of different types) have been very chilled out indoors. As I say I have always exercised my dogs well and put the chilled ness down to this as apposed the breeding, but not having owned a spaniel before I wasn’t sure if they have an off button
  4. That’s good to hear, in fairness my other dogs are 100mph out working but complete door mats in the House but never had or grown up with spaniels.
  5. Not much by the looks of things lol
  6. I am looking at sourcing a pup to work alongside my little terrier and lurcher and would like to give a cocker a go, as Iam rough shooting more and more and have always fancied one to train up. I am lucky in that I own a dog walking co and am out daily covering the miles so can offer plenty of exercise when it’s not working. My question really is more about living with one, having walked a fair few and there xs I can see they can do a job, but having been used to mainly owning and growing up with lurchers and terriers, I like the fact they have an off button when not working. I put this down t

  8. In all honesty they are few and far between in working homes imo plenty warming peoples feet mind. My bitch is decent without being spectacular imo can’t fault her temperament though and very biddable. I would/ will get another but sourcing a decent one might be the issue atb
  9. Few recent pics on mooches with the snow on the ground.

Whippet x collie x grey took a bit of gamble on him 5 years ago but glad I did suits me fine atb
  11. My oldman has a decent fawn rough coated grey x bed that stands at around 23.5tts he has been a very good dog over the years well past his best now at 11 yo but still got the drive for it. He has mainly been used for edible game but is a capable allrounder and had some good pace back in his prime. I can ask if interested he has featured in fair few earth dog running dog articles over the years. Based in staffs, sounds like what you were after at b ps at 11 yo he might be during blanks mind.

  13. Sadly had the old fella pts this afternoon not 2 months since I lost my old bouvier molly, they grew up together so in a way it was fitting but had expected George being a bit younger to stick around on our wanders for good while yet, alas the dreaded c got a good on him and the sight off him not wanting his food or a walk signalled the worst. Vets confirmed my fears this morning and at 11 yo rather than major surgery thought best to pts and end his obvious discomfort asap. George was by no means working dog but he enjoyed his walks and has tagged along all over the country. he came to w
  14. Lost my old bouvier recently and in her youth I did toy with the idea of putting a greyhound or racer lurcher to her for a while, but sadly timing was never right being in the military at the time. I was also worried where the pups would end up as well and hadn't at the time heard of any lurchers of this type. Great to see your updates and I always look out for them, your dog seems to have matured into a fine looking dog and what I kind of envisaged a bouvier type lurcher could look like, my old bitch had many qualities that I often thought would compliment a lurcher, despite testing my patien
  15. My old man used to race greyhounds when I was a kid, but he ruined a few working them as well from what he tells me. The two pure racing greys i can remember first-hand faired differently, the first a good grade one track dog (sprint) ended up towards the end of his track career with fair few toes missing and despite his ability in the field he was knocked up a fair bit. The second which I went out with a fair bit, a smaller but solid bitch (out and our stayer in greyhound terms) never had much trouble tbh but and I suppose it's a big but they were all run on sensible ground. The same sprint d
  16. Dam 3\4 grey x collie sire line bred lurcher grey, saluki, Wheaton in the line both parents proven atb should make around 23tts
  17. £200 i think from what I remember, most have been gifted tbh to those known lads but I think the breeder is covering the cost of the c-section the dam had not bred for money. Fair price for the breeding imo atb
  18. went to see them again the other day got some energy and pretty much ready to go more recent pics, cracking pup for someone and sounds like a bloke off here might be struggling to take his bitch pup (black and tan) as well for personal reasons might be a second available atn
  19. Went to see a mates litter of pups again today at about 6 weeks old they are bouncing around full of beans. I know one or two are going to people off here in the next few weeks and I have no doubts when they see the pups now they will be happy folks. Be great to hopefully see how the pups grow over the summer months and work in the future, got a few staying locally including with the dam and sires owners and the rest going further afield to working homes. Unfortunately not in a good position for a pup myself at the moment despite losing my old bouvier bitch recently ,otherwise this last little
  20. All mine feast on blackberries when in walks, never discouraged it tbh as they clearly enjoy them atb
  21. View Advert Lurcher Pup A friend has a single bitch left from a litter bred to keep some pups back, dam (left of pic) 3\4 grey x collie and sire is lurcher grey, saluki, Wheaton in the mix, both parents are racy and have been worked well. This pup will make a lovely worker for someone and should make around 22-24tts. If anyone is interested and can offer a genuine working home for life pm and will forward further details. Pup ready to go in couple of weeks time atb added some more recent pics seen them the other day lovely litter raring to go atb pu
  22. Thanks again folks, she was pts this afternoon and despite it being heart wrenching decision i am comfortable it was for the best. i have not long lost my grandad and he didn't half suffer towards the end, he told me more than once before he passed that no dog would be made to suffer like he was and he was a tough bugger. He along with my old man is the reason I love running dogs and terriers. Share One story that sticks out and makes me smile when I think about Molly, I was lucky enough to take her to work a fair bit with me during my time in the raf, she came to work at the gym with me one
