  1. Would of thought a smallish lurcher with a good jacket would be useful and have the pace to catch as well. If not been out with a few vizsla types and they have been good dogs atb
  2. Fair enough WM understand where you coming from and sorry the pup didn't live up to his dad joe, but as you say it's a bit of a lottery especially with lurchers. Not sure col has had a great deal of joy with joes offspring to be honest which probably backs up your point, as from what my oldman says he is a good dog. Atb in your search for a runner will pass on you regards out with my oldman latter in the week for a wander cheers
  3. WM how come you don't breed your bitch and keep a pup back seems like the best option in the long run surely. Know you had a pup off my uncle what didn't work out and always best to stick to what you know does the business. Any breeding is a gamble but at least you know half the breeding inside out, sure a similar type would through decent bunny dogs atb with your plans and you know more than me just seems a waste when you rate her so highly atb
  4. Tb25 yes can be frustrating at times but to be honest I prefer this kind of mooching to work on the lamp, even though we rarely catch on this walk, just like seeing dogs work as a team And terrier loves these little hedgerows atb
  5. Terry it's a nice little walk not far from where I live make it over there regular. The hedges are littered with holes and yes went to ground, they spent the next 5 mins with there heads down various holes and the lurcher whining away in excitement. In truth it's a very rare catch on this walk as the odds are staked in the rabbits favour but keeps them in shape and they enjoy it atb
  6. Mainly whippet touch of grew and touch of collie in the mix looks very whippet like in the flesh but bit chunkier stands 22tts and has a better thicker coat IMO than most whippets suits me down the ground to be fair atb
  7. They are no world beater terry but can't fault there effort which is good enough for me. Not upto the standard of your vids sadly, to be honest this was just an evening mooch as I don't take my phone out when working but it's pretty obvious when they are keen on and managed to get a glimpse of the action atb
  8. Can't really call mine a pack but got 3 that do a bit and one that is my shadow guard. Little terrier, whippety lurcher, schnauzer and bouvier. When I am out working the dogs properly usually borrow my brothers 2 borders, my old mans has his beddy lurcher out and last time out the farm collie tagged along. Little video from this evenings local mooch
  9. The lurcher pup and terrier are really starting to gel of late and hopefully more of this too come. Probably should have moped this one up but can't fault the terriers little bit of grafting and the young pups effort. Just got to keep getting them out to gain experience and hopefully the pup will start to work alongside the terrier a bit more and have some luck atb hopefully the video works
  10. Wasn't really aimed at you tbh just I have always found running dogs especially pups are difficult to keep weight on as oppose a terrier being a bit easier to maintain. Hence why I would feed a fast growing running pup what in needs with him reason. Should add never kept a heavy type runner though in fairness always speedsters atb
  11. Think in fairness there is a big difference between a running dog and a terrier. I have always fed pups what they can eat when growing so quick, none of them have been obese or at all fat. They grow so quick at that age and fly around the place when awake can't see how they would get obese personally. But then as soon as mine are jabbed up they toddle along with the losers dogs and are within reason expected to keep up. Pups like kids need good nutrition at a young age and plenty of it, far more risk in my eyes from under feeding than over feeding atb
  12. Cocker I think your points are right in many ways, but to be honest if your looking at it in real Scientific terms (of what we know today) then there really isn't that much different between a human and wolf or dog, yes we have evolved to eat slightly different diets and physically look different. But if you take it right down to internal organs, tissue and boring cellular level then their isn't really much difference at all, so actually in my eyes it is a fair comparison if done correctly. A living thing needs certain things to thrive and survive. The key is knowing what things (ie foods/ nut
  13. I think you will find most top Olympic athletes will have nutritionists making sure they get everything they need in their diet, away from supplements as the risk of contamination is too high, also nutrients are meant to be absorbed into the body in natural combinations as designed in nature and often on its own the benefits are greatly reduced or none existent (not my word proven fact). Hence why modern sports science and top athletes are moving away from supplements and going back to nature and just a very scientifically calculated calorie and nutrient rich diet which is monitored very close
  14. Been using it a while and have sung its praises before. I get it delivered direct of amazon I think its around £21 per 15kg bag, which for what's in it is decent in my eyes. My lot have it with additional raw and they thrive on it atb
  15. As with humans if a dog has a good varied diet then I am afraid you are wasting money as they should be getting all they need and anything additional will pass though. But as with Lots of humans if a dog doesn't get everything it needs from a diet which I would guess some won't then they will benefit from the correct supplements atb
  16. Without doubt my favourite dog on thl that dog fox pack always love seeing photos of him cracker atb
  17. Cheers for the feedback will look into the options. Used a garmin a fair bit for running good pieces of kit will check out the dog versions and the ultravox cheers

  20. Gaz yes that's the kind of thing I am after. Aware of the bellman etc but my understanding is they are short range locators for digging. I am after a locator/ tracker which would do dual roles I suppose, no idea if one exists but thought I would ask here as I would have thought some peoples bushers must have the same issue atb
  21. What is the range on the bellman mate as I need something that I can track to holes over longer ranges if that makes sense. Should add the Land i work is owned by my uncle and is mainly arable land with small corpse areas cheers
  22. The young terrier has been getting fitter and fitter this season after a close shave with the vets last year. She has always been prone to a wander on the back of scent but her recall is good once the action is ended. Last few weeks she has revved up a gear and tonight was gone a good half hour, which is unusual as the young lurcher sticks with her but he had long returned. After a long half hour of waiting in the dark, she returned looking like a drowned rat, stinking of the red fella. I suspect she has dropped in by the looks of things, which isn't my game really and much to the annoyance of
  23. I think it's fair to say most first x beddy whippets will end up around 18tts give it take and the ones i have seen have lacked the extra bit of pace needed on fast ground daytime for rabbits. Some People will say they must have been shite dogs, I say maybe they were or just maybe rabbits take a bit of catching in fast ground over short distances atb

  25. Think that's a fair point bob but in fairness if I am going to folk out money then I would just rather have the best for my money and best for the dogs. If the freezer is empty then it's no big deal to stick with the dry for a while atb
