-
Done some pickled shallots/onions these have sugar and chilli flakes in and some plain ones. I even saved the right jar for the job no idea how they will turn out so we will see. Hard work keeping the wife at bay she really fancies them Got some red cabbage done too as I do like that and beetroot On the blackberries at the moment getting plenty in the freezer then we will do some jam. Some lady on facebook did a blackcurrant and chocolate jam which she seemed pleased with so I will try that with blackberries

terryd replied to jok's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I love a nice chutney not done any this year as I still have stuff left from last season. It's only me that eats it really. -
just try a few easy holes with little cover that look likely and you can manage with out a locator initially. I would get a couple of bells on it though. Thats how I did as a kid. Got so fed up of trying empty holes mind I stopped netting and just put the ferret and sure enough there was a rabbit in that one

name namesMost people on this threadwell, we will all be waiting patiently for your posts come winternot everyone needs to bump there dogs up on the Internet pal There's odd ones try to bump their dogs up but majority just like sharing their outings with like minded folk. My dogs are shite and most wouldn't kennel them but they're mine, they keep me happy and I like seeing other lads posts of a similar nature especially lads bringing kids up in the field like myself. Can't beat it. bang on Gaz my dog would take some bumping the silly sausage

My gran used to have sunday dinner on the table at midday if not earlier bless her
-
like gaz said we all got different terrain and expectations. For me as long as I can keep the rabbit in the beam that will do for me and even when there's thistles and cover about as long as I can light the dog up the rabbit wont be far in front thats for sure
-
I would like that good idea. Got plenty of kale to plant out soon for the winter too

Saying that much rather start early and finish early rather than mopping up pregnant does come end of feb around here

i have NEVER been so angry with a dog as i was 1/2 an hour ago.if i had a gun now she would of been shot.constantly pulling,i climbed over a gate, told her to stay and she went only shot about 10yds into the field but feck that then slipped on a rabbit and she must have thought she was fecking mo farrah and done 10,000 meters around the field.that's going to wind me up for days. lol soon settle into things again
-
i started lol the dog need sto work he was wheel spinning up the beam tonight
-
Well the dl100 works for me amazing the light it gives for such a little thing. Dam near fits in me wax coat pocket. The quality of the plastic is great really solid. Much wider and I think bright beam than the plr one might be too wide for some but for old blind bat here its just the job
-
bloody lucky glad all ok. That should be covered

it is interesting and yet very little can be read about how it started. Found this regarding pointers http://americanpointerclub.org/incs/assessingtheshowpointer.pdf

from day one lol yes true enough just need to convince the wife

So when buying a pup if the parents are good retrievers, soft mouthed, non possessive, good around stock and basically do every thing you want of your pup. You are certainly swinging the odds in your favour even though they are down to training and handling ? mmm my daughter informs me lol only if that behaviour was caused by genetics and the genes passed on

wish I had a 100% but he will do me

Was walking the hedge row last night and we passed a rotten old sheep been there some time. I noticed the dog veering over to it and could see he was thinking roll in the shite time. So I intercepted him just as he got there and told him to sod off. He made a pretend move to walk away then all of a sudden snatched a mouth full of rotten fur threw it as far as he could dashed over to it and threw him self on for a quick rub before i got to him yet again. The barsteward out foxed me again Made me laugh how he threw it and then dived on it for good old neck rub before i could get to him

Will a spaniel hold a line ? Never had one so don't know. But my Jack Russel would he was like a hound so when he found a rabbit he wouldn't stop till he had it to ground and marked to be ferreted so ideal back then. But he would go to ground which again was ok back then but I wouldn't want it now. So I would go for one the nice bushing types in the bushing section like the spaniel crosses
-
think his knocked him out lol
