  1. yeah i agree it is hard to keep an eye on size and confirmation aswell as mental attributes so you can wire in things like that. do you keep a strain of terrier donnyc? got white dogs here exactly the same as i had 40+ years ago same size looks workstyles etc..Dont count though as there White LOL I dont keep black dogs either i was just using it as an example, Have u inbred them or have you crossbred them and have u found it easy to keep them going mate? If youve kept them going for 40 years you must be doing something right.
  2. yes bad traits will come up with the pups but the idea is to weed out the bad and breed the best obviously you will not now about mental traits until they are older and by doing inbreeding like this you can improve from the original stock. It is possible if you are a really good breeder to start with mediocre dogs and get great ones further down the line. ( i am not claiming that i have done this but some breeders have.)
  3. Its just called inbreeding mate it might become a line of terriers further down the line but the practice of close family breeding is called inbreeding.
  4. listen my friend would you have the balls to speak to someone like you do face to face or do you just let insults flow of the computer, line breeding might be inbreeding with a plan to you but what most people think of that as grandfather to grandaughter or uncle to niece breeding where i am talking about intense inbreeding as in what they do with pit dogs, game fowl, the jersey cow , and as they intensely inbred the stock improves and yes as you say you do have to adapt if things start to go wrong but i cant talk to you anymore. you are the sort of person that thinks he is put on the earth to
  5. or that is what everyone else calls inbreeding but as you said personal preference as too what you do next but most experinced breeders n know continue to but bitch back to father then bitch out of that litter to father again for 4 or 5 generations before you keep a stud dog back.
  6. I agree with what you are saying there. I dont see why we are arguing or with the insults only argument is what you are calling linebreeding is inbreeding.
  7. Because i do not want respect off people like foxdropper and i am interested in how people have done it and how much success have they had? Foxdropper did not come with anything constructive just insults which is a shame there are loads of people on this site i would imagine have far more knowledge on breeding than me (Queue a sarcastic remark) but foxdropper is not unless he discusses it now and explains what experiences he has had? hopefully this can be a good thread still and we can get back on too discussion Its not about respect mate, i thought this thread was about peoples views and
  8. No i didnt say that or if it come out like that it wasnt meant to, alot of people with black terriers say that they came from ken gould and im stating a fact that he inbred and inbred generation after generation of dogs. Too busy breeding your own what terriers do you breed? how long have you been breeding them ? im not having a pop its suppose to be a discussion
  9. yeah i agree it is hard to keep an eye on size and confirmation aswell as mental attributes so you can wire in things like that. do you keep a strain of terrier donnyc?
  10. At the risk of getting a pasting from froggy whatsit ,the dogs linage is everything ,A bitch becomes one of your broods providing she is tested and of sound temperament.A dog that consistently throws workers is the foundation to all good lines .Starting out ,the advice of the breeder should be followed to the letter but as you move on,youll get to know what works over what .STARTING FROM SCRATCH WITH AN UNKNOWN IS POT LUCK AND IMO A WASTE OF RESOURCE AND TIME[YEARS ] Im not arguing im discussing this with before you jump too it, It does not matter which way round you do it as both parents
  11. Because i do not want respect off people like foxdropper and i am interested in how people have done it and how much success have they had? 12. Fool another insult you do not act your age mate and you should learn to have a disccusion rather shouting insults like a moron. Did i say ken gould was the origin of the black dog i said he had a massive influence on the black dog. And with anything like the breeding of game fowl or game dogs the most consistent producers of working stock inbreed there stock again and again. line breeding as rob said is not as close as inbreeding the stock are not as closely related.
  13. yes mate but was trying to have a discussion about what other people do i didnt want to start arguing with anybody was not point of thread and was interested in fdroppers opinion but it has to become patronising and insulting.
  14. i was hoping this was going to be a discussion on peoples opinion but because i dont agree with foxdroppers opinion im a thick know all. Its a shame it cant be discussed politely!!
