  12. I wouldnt know how to train a dog to mark other than what comes natural to him. Has most men know any kind of cajoling or encouragment to a dog will only teach false marking. A dog can sense what pleases his master easier than you think and will mark to please. Has FD says even a Huntsman getting off his horse can be seen as an indication to mark or that a false one is pleasing him. When i go near a hole with a terrier on or off lead I try to just stand dead still and quiet and let the dog take over. You can only ever say the dog was right when they found really cant you? But when a dog that ha
  13. The thing with hounds is once one babbles the rest get excited.. Yeh!!!!!Say what you mean if you dont agree... Me. No mate i bow to your vast knowledge of a breed the foxhound in all its guises. Bred for centurys with a nose that can track a fox for miles uphill and down dale. With the right sent condition , bred down from lines were failier was not tolorated false marking etc against your wee terrier who am i to judge when i dont know you your terrier or the babberling pack inqestion. I think the word is Babbling not babberling..Its a word used to describe an offence commited by hounds,,I

  18. Do hounds ever false mark?Yes Well they marked this day and my bitch said no. I admit i felt foolish until they had just about tried every terrier in that county that would go in..For once I prayed nothing would be at home and there was not according to them. Once again they all came up with same opinion. Its just the little bitch came up with it a lot quicker. I didnt and dont expect a terrier to make a decision with one quick sniff, but that was what she did and as you know with a dog like that there is nothing to be done once they walk away. I never said she was 100% or a great dog. I d
  19. I dont know about that imo its good to see a youngster search places as its all part of learning ....and can you really trust an inexperienced Terrier unless its search every inch ?a bitch we used to have would be pulling at the lead from ten yards away or hardly even sniff it, depending on her opinion. She was never proved wrong. So you did run a dog through after the 100% marking bitch had said no? Yes many times in company because of doubters .she may have gone wrong who will know? Have a third read of my post and understand that i said "She was never PROVED wrong...
  20. People always seem to think more about the money than the dog itself. You can get a very good terrier given you or pay 500 for a poor one, but it can just has easily be the other way round. Dont go out to get a bargain. You will have your mind in the wrong direction..You wouldnt get a gundog for nothing so dont expect it with a terrier..Concentrate your thinking on quality (work not looks) and once you think you have found it, just pay the price. The money wont effect the outcome of the dog in any way so why waste time thinking about it.
