I have been using this Lay-soft equine bedding for the dogs, in the dogs sleeping area and kennel run, for a while now and rate it highly. The shavings i used to use were getting thinner and thinner which led to them getting blown about with the weakest bit of breeze and made then turn to mush when the dogs had emptied on it in the run. The price of the shavings was going through the roof too. This new stuff seems to insulate better, is more absorbent and does not blow about as much. It is also only £6 per 25 kg bale which lasts ages. A top product if you ask me.

What i find staggering in this thread is the amount of hard men that are members of this forum. The amount of "i would do this, i would do that" makes me wonder how any crimes are committed in this country at all because if someone would kill someone over a dog surely they would not let anyone live over a mugging,robbery, house breaking etc etc.

Give the dog some experience doing his job. Work makes a dog nothing else. If the dog is thinking about the digging his mind is not on his job. See how he goes next season.

Why do people blame the kc for these monstrosities?, they are only the registration society. You don't have a crash in the car and blame the dvla so you?. The breed clubs write the standard that is then put in place by the kc. If people stopped attending those events and demanded a change in standards it would soon be done because the kc does not like to miss out on a pound coin. The kc did not vote that disgrace of a dog 1st place in he gundog group but a judge that is obviously clueless about a Labradors work.

That's one of the problems with gundog "trainers", anyone can say they are one and charge for lessons. A lot of dog owners haven't got a clue about even the most basic things so some of these "trainers" will always find work showing the clueless. I travel 103 mile each way to train with a mate because he has the track record of training people how to train dogs. -
I would only ever wear leather boots, especially when out digging. I saw the pain on a lads face when a fox bit him through his "tough" cordoura type boots.

We have been into the pub at the back of woodfordes brewery, a proper "picture postcard" place with a thatched roof,great food and superb ale. We were drinking the wherry, i brew that at home as well, and sun dance i think the other one was called. The walk back to the boat at the end of the evening took a lot longer than the walk to it at lunch time.

Why would anyone want a dog from a particular "line" because they have "heard" good things about them?. Believe nothing you hear and only half you see. And yes i know jp, he has dug with us quite a few times.

Good luck to the guy but he doesn`t look like his head is in the right right place to cope with the fight in front of him. Where have all his generous "mates" been the last few years when he has been struggling?. When he was at his best he was never photographed without his celebrity "mates" at his side, but once he was on the slippery slope to nowhere they soon f****d off!. Giving him a few quid now will no doubt clear thier consience if the worst comes to the worse and they are at his funeral. And nothing brings "mates" out like a funeral. I have the paramo trail shirt and explorer top and they are brilliant base/mid layers. I too have the cascada coat and swear by it for keeping me dry. If only paramo would make a coat tough enough to go hunting in ?.

Fantastic bit of kit. They are VERY VERY warm, but easily vented with the side zips. They are best worn next to the skin so the pile wicks away any sweat from your skin. They are not waterproof though, they rely on you being so warm inside that the wet does not make you cold. If you keep active in it you will not bother about the rain and they dry very very quickly. Top kit in my opinion. I like it alot more than gore-tex, that's stuff is like wearing a bin liner you sweat so much.

The champion springer bitch on the left is 5 years old this month yet she is only 1.5 inch taller than the 10 month old cocker bitch on the right. She is unbelievably hard hunting,a real machine, that can cover ground as fast as you could ever wish. She doesn't need long legs.
