  1. She'll do for a bit of ferreting
  2. All her litter had the typical whippet breeding. Direct whippet to whippet breeding. As you can see her tail is heavy and curled.very confused. Kenny
  3. I'm in south Donegal and I'm looking for this cross for doing a bit of cover. A pup would be ideal but would consider an older dog.thanks in advance. Kenny
  4. Great pics fireman. Just so you know, there was never any intentions of removing live rats from nets. As you say, just to slow them up a bit and terriers a chance. Mesh wire looks handy. Thanks guys Kenny
  5. Thanks lad's for the feedback. I'm going to take a trip to killybegs net makers, I'm thinking 50yds of 1" mesh hung at 25 yds. How many meshes deep do you think lads. I'm thinking of adding a leaded footline?
  6. Trying to gather information on making my own long net for rats lads, friends of mine do a lot of ratting with ferrets and terriers and have asked me about a net for the job. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kenny
  7. Want to get a small bred hob as i prefer them to the much larger hobs that are around.anyone willing to sell one near me would be great. I'm in ballyshannon co. Donegal. Kenny
  8. Dropped 3 in a seperate bag of their own one time. I carried two sacks at neck of the bag and my mate carried his like a child. Bang! .what a roar. Hare bit him thru the bag. I had to crawl out of the field with laughter. Some lump on his arm.
  9. Best of luck with the pup.great looking pup
  10. I've just watched lurchersireland DVD, rabbiting and fox control in Ireland by Tommy Cullen. Great watch. Good variety of hunting in it. Really enjoyed it.
  11. I've always prefered the small hob or average sized Jill. If they come on a stubborn rabbit that refuses to bolt they can get over the rabbit and get to the neck, making a quick kill and move swiftly on. Never had to do much digging thank feck.
  12. Got my whippet last year and I have to say she's going great on the lamp. Great speed, quick on the turn. She really moves thru the gears. Soft mouth too. Wouldn't swap her for anything else. Rabbit's only Kenny
  13. I feed as normal the evening before, and some raw eggs the morning of the hunt.
  14. Hi lads Please can you tell me the legal requirements for 13 yr old too hold an air gun.I'm in the south of Ireland which are a a bit more blurred when looking for information, any help would be greatly appreciated Kenny
  15. I'm well in with my local butcher thank god. everything from livers ,hearts, red meat and fish.eggs are cheap too and ferrets love them.I know a man that feeds tripe to his ferrets all the time, great looking ferrets they are! Kenny.
  16. Myself and my two lads(8 and 13)just back from a quick lamp with the whippet.great to watch the wee bitch learn from early mistakes of overshooting the rabbits to carefully second guessing them.two nice runs at the end resulting in two nice Bunny's.lads were well impressed with their wee bitch as too were the ferrets!look forward to many more notes out Kenny
  17. Shame I'm too far.southern Ireland. fair play to you anyway mare
  18. Full moon doesn't help me much lads. Dark and windy. Rabbits I find tend to be less unaware of the dangers on a windy nite and venture further out
  19. Never tried it mate, but I'd imagine plenty of collars on albino ferrets might be a help.
  20. I learned from a man years ago not to hit a young dog.when he got frustrated he called it a day.started next day as a new day.he turned around some stubborn mutts
  21. Shame that lads just as the season is about to begin.
