  1. I currently use a clearview jobbee on it's own. Up against a hedge with some shade it works just fine, but I cant help feeling that it could do with augmenting with a heavier net perhaps to cover the bottom of the hide and use the clearview as a top layer to look through. It is very easy to see the pigeons through it as they come in. Cheers D.
  2. as Roy Castle used to say: "Dedication's what you neeeeeeed....." Good luck OP, keep knocking the doors, making contacts etc - you will find permission sooner or later. It's easier to pick them up in winter when the fair weather shooters are tucked up in doors and not out dropping pigeons and protecting crops. Cheers D.
  3. I must confess, I still love my .177 for many rabbiting situations, but when I first used my rimmie for lamping I decided only to use the rimmie for lamping the bunnies. Much more forgiving than air power, incredibly quiet and very, very effective. I would never off-load my pcp airgun though as there are too many situaions I have to deal with where a 100 fpe rimmie is far too much gun. Good luck! Duncan
  4. Me too! I love the flat trajectory of the .177 a few clicks to switch elevation between 37 and 55 yards or more and now rainbow-like trajectory of the .25. Nice looking rifle mate
  5. Often, simple is best: fave lunch is marinaded pigeon breast (redwine vinegar, salt, black pepper, flaked chillis, chinese five spice, garlic and a dash of balsamic), fried in hot pan, 2 mins a side, rest for 2 more in a warm place and place in crusty rolls with butter, some cucumber thinly sliced and a smidge of mayonnaise on top. IMHO, very hard to beat
  6. The Boys: As juveniles: and Solstice now: Great guard dogs: they mean business, but are easily told when visitors are 'ok' to come in and they settle fast (the hounds, not necessarily the visitors lol!) One new 'shredder' in the making: ATB Duncan.
  7. Me too. It seemed that as I was already an FAC holder, the police treated my sgc application as a formality. To date, they still haven't followed up by taking the reference offered. Cheers Duncan.
  8. Good to have you onboard, theobob47. Plenty of knowledge on here, if you sift carefully Chhers Duncan
  9. I know a guide in Milton Keynes called Les. He's not cheap but will put you in front of pigeons for a day. I believe he has guns he can loan but don't quote me. From memory, he charges £ per day per gun. If that's of any help, pm me and I'll pass your number or details on so he can call you. Cheers Duncan. PS - If all else fails, I may be able to give you a taster, but I'm not a paid guide so cannot guarantee birds. PPS. I used to know a nice family from Jo'burg
  10. I trust you are retaining and transferring the '5exy' sticker moley! De rigeur I believe
  11. I missed it too. So much Si that I had to go out and do some hunting! ;-)
  12. Dear Deirdre; I was watching my next door neighbour's daughter sunbathing topless from my bedroom window. As i was knocking one out I turned to notice my wife just stood there, arms folded ........watching me. Is she a pervert? Go on then, one more... My window cleaner, knocked the door today, Swearing, shouting, b******y furious, I think he had lost his rag. I'll get my coat
  13. I'd almost forgotten about that! 4 fab years, 3 at Birmingham Uni and the 3rd year at Bonn Uni. That year abroad must be the best of my life! And what's better is that I knew it at the time - not much work, gym 5 times a week, partying a lot (what else are you going to do when you're a young fit 21 YO dude?) and travelling europe in breaks. Fantastic time! Life and seriousness began at the end, but Uni days stand out as an oasis of hedonism Duncan.
  14. No, I'm not being rude! A lot of folk on here seem to be keen on game cooking and sharing knowledge which i heartily condone and support. It occurs to me that a meet-up and taste kind of event or even an informal competition could be a good idea and fun too. Naturally, it would have to be a regional thing as we have members from all over the UK/World. So, is anyone up for this? I'd happily look to organize the first one in N Bucks/Beds/Northants region if theres enough interest - could be a pub venue. PS - Moderators. Would this be better in a meet up/ events section
  15. A good solid recipe there, Joe. My secret ingredients to really take a rabbit stew to the next level: fry off some lardons first til crispy and set aside to add later with some smoked sausage, cubed. A few sprinkles of flaked chilli add a bit of kick to it and I also deglaze the pan from the lardons and browning off the bunny meat with red wine vinegar. By this point, I'm beginning to feel I should have put my whole recipe up, lol! Cheers Duncan.
  16. My wife asked me for a double-entendre, so I gave her one.

  17. Buy cheap, buy twice. Of course it could be a 'friday afternoon' rifle and needs tweaking - pretty poor though and i hope your friend gets it sorted. Cheers Duncan.
  18. Cats. Some folk hate em, my mrs likes hers and to be honest, since we've had them no rats have been seen, apart from a load of dead ones in the early days. Downside is I don't feed the birds any more. Some you win, some you lose. Cheers Duncan.
  19. The only thing I ever hit with a catty was the back of my leading hand ! Ouch! Welcome aboard Duncan
  20. Nice bag and gun! it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one who gets bothered by the nags. Well done Moley! Duncan.
  21. Thanks very much for your feedback guys - it makes writing and posting entirely worthwhile
  22. Laughing at myself now! I gave about 15 tins of pellets of various different types and calibres to several people on the PW. They all went to good homes though :-) Duncan
  23. HW100 gets my vote - can't imagine why lol! Seriously though, if you don't mind a bit of heft (good for accuracy) then the HW100 is very, very hard to beat. 14 shot magazines and the best autoload system on an air rifle bar none. No power curve, match grade trigger, good shot capacity, and no electrics to recharge. Sweet Had mine for 5 years and can't fault it. ATB Duncan
