  1. That's spot on Moley Combine that with a laser rangefinder (which every responsible hunter should have) and you've got one hell of a combinaton. There's no reason the .22 can't be as, if not more, effective with that sort of combo. I have the Guntuff rangerfinder with a picture of my calibrated mil-dots taped to the side of it. One zap and look at the side of the rangefinder and I know exactly where to aim ATB
  2. Hi mate, its Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil
  3. Lol, can't bloody delete the post! Computer froze then posted the first word! See other post of the same title
  4. @ BSA Rifles! Nice shooting Stealthy, 5 in an hour is good going Plenty of ferret food there!
  5. Nice shooting, I don't shoot hares either but each to their own How do you find the KUB? Not heard much about them, looks like it does the business! ATB
  6. Thanks chaps, nipped out last night and after spending 2 hours in the prone position (sore neck!) fully cammo'd up I only saw only two rabbits in the opposite field . I don't have permission there and they were running quite fast down one side of the field. The weather was blue skies just before the sun was setting with the occassional, barely noticeable, breeze. I'm wondering if the conditions weren't right or whether my scent was blowing the wrong way, you couldn't really tell. All a bit strange to be honest.. It could actualy be that the opposite fields are more appealing, the grass does lo
  7. Popped out this morning with the hope of bagging a few bunnies and didn't even see one! Laid up in my usual position under the conifers, just as the sun was coming up the large beech tree 35 yards ago started to host its usual flock of rooks and jackdaws. I always tend to leave the rooks and mainly concentrate on the crows, magpies and pigeons. Whilst rooks can be quite destructive they do play an important part in keeping some of the leather jackets and other arable pests at bay so I always have preference for either the 'eaters' or song bird desroyers! Anyway, 4 magpies joined the f
  8. Look forward to hearing and seeing your results on that one Bill! ATB
  9. Hi Elliot. Not jaw bone is it ? Bill. I guess it must be chaps Nipped out again tonight and bagged a magpie and another bunny just before nearly losing the light totally. Missed one, shot went straight over the top by about 1/2 inch. Luckily the one I bagged stayed in situ (at 10 yards!) and didn't see me behind a wooden pallet. Realised that the cammo gloves and headnet make a real difference! Both rabbits will be in the butchers by 8am tomorrow, and the magpie left out for mr fox .
  10. Hi Bill, I couldn't see the teeth in the scope and it was only half-three quarters grown so I wondered if the pellet forced them out? Sounds a bit daft I know!
  11. Just got back in from another early morning session and managed to bag another on the lawned area from under the conifers. The rabbit rolled over as usual and after a couple of kicks lay motionless. Job done. I laid there for around 15 mins thinking I might bag another from the same position but as is the case at this permission the one shot seemed to be enough to scare everything off, so I went for the retrieve. Never seen this before, but the shot must have knocked its bottom teeth straight out! I pulled out the laser rangefinder from my pocket and blipped the area from where I took the
  12. Cracking post pal, never had woodie but would love to try it
  13. Up at 6.30am this morning and out the door to my newest permission, a 10 minute drive from me. The chap has only around 1 acre of land and grows vegetables to sell at the local markets. He's plagued by rabbits, woodies, collard doves, magpies and crows but the rabbits are by far the wariest I have ever come across. The slightest noise or movement and they're off! I've tried all sorts, even getting onto the shed roofs in a real sniper position (which was recommended by the owner!). The sheep netting and adjacent fields are a real pain in the arse and to make matters worse, to get anywhere near
  14. Awesome, sounds great Daz, would loved to have been there! Good work ATB
  15. Aye up Wurz. Yes mate, looking forward to some range time with her, see how compares. Will post up the results mate ATB. Bill. Looking forward to this Bill ATB
  16. All good gun or outdoor shops should supply them. I got mine from a local shop in Kirkby Lonsdale. If you're struggling check out Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=owl+decoy ATB
  17. As above re pulses of air, if you're lucky this will solve it. If your rifle is under warranty give Hull Cartridge a ring and they will sort it for you. I had the same problem and it was quick and easy. If its not under warranty get a price for repair, then compare that to Darryl's lighter cylinder ATB
  18. Nice one! Can you show me how you attached it to your scope?
  19. Hi Tony, I purchased the little owl decoy from one of my local gun shops, but they are available from online retailers such as Uttings: http://www.uttings.co.uk/Product/767/106144/sportplast-little-owl-decoy-slod/ Works a treat ATB
  20. Its suprising how effective such a simple hide is when set behind a dark background such as this small woodland. What you also can't tell is that the ground slopes down and I lay between three closely planted conifers with the rifle on the bipod. The decoy is 30 yards away. This is the view from the decoy (pic 1) and the view from inside the hide (pic 2) Pic 1 Pic 2
  21. My little owl decoy is the business, always seems to work a treat. Little tip though if you opt for the little owl - make sure you give the corvids a rest after you've had a successful session. They certainly aren't daft and persistant decoying, especially from the same position, can put them off altogether and you'll end up losing the effectiveness of your set up. Here's the result of my last decoying session (img 1) and the hide I created on the fringe of a small woodland (img 2). That was around a month ago and its just about ready for another go A good time to decoy is around nest bui
