I would love to put an old working strain over my Jill. Although mine are decent workers it would be nice to know that what I am using as a stud can only add quality and give me a strong base to start my own line that 20 years from now people will call "an old working strain" of high quality. Every working strain must have started out not particularly well known and then spread firstly to a few close friends who line bred them amongst themselves, then in time were available to a few of their close friends and so on and so on. My point is If a good quality pair of ferrets showing all the right

You can split the money if you like or you can find my Terrier work 5. lol. I need something to read desperately

You are right 100% mate. I don't think a castrated Hob can usually even get it up! -
Castrated Hob Available Here To Use In Sw Devon
redpat1 replied to Shamo's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
my question was a genuine one but a castrated hob is useless to you for bringing a jill out of season. please dont tell us youve just had the wrong operation done You are right BPR, I think it is down to a hormone that is still secreted when vasectomised in their Hob errr... goo that brings the Jills out of season. I am not sure but I think that this is no longer produced when he has the full-on chop, even if he has any desire left.. That has always been my understanding, if I have got the wrong end of the stick so to speak, I am sure someone will put me right on here . -
I am not having it mate, I was pulling the lads leg (private joke). Fill your boots Fazza, it is a top read. Pat

I will have it. lol. I take it you didn't fancy it then?

Hi mate, if you find what you are looking for let me know as I have a couple of Jills here who wouldn't mind doubling up on a lucky Hobble. My girls are based in Medway and as you probably know, Chatham girls have no limits! lol Pat

Hi BPR, yeah I am going to put a floor on made from 6mm marine ply and I think I will probably do the same to the side which ends up facing my fence as there wont be anything for them to see anyway. I have two Jills now courtesy of Fieldsportsman from the site, they have had a couple of seasons behind them already and know their job. I had heard of the Jills he owns when a couple of lads from the Kent FMWTC went out with him and had nothing but good things to say about the way they performed, so I am very grateful to Jack (Fieldsportsman) for thinking of me, I will take good care of them pal.

Either Fergie feels its a massive battle brewing with "The Great One" on his way back to the Bridge and it could be one fight to many for him in his 70's or Fergie knows that the best replacement is Jose and has told the Board to hijack his move and bring him to Man U whatever the cost. To be honest, I cant stand either of the egotistical B%*^&rds but apart from Brendan Rogers there aren't better managers anywhere in the world, perhaps with the exception of Bayern Munich.

Thanks, another great link. They have definitely over done it a bit with the accessories though . I am going to fit the floor with marine ply to make life a little easier. But you are definitely responsible for my purchase. lol.

Well I have ordered my court as recommended by GreyRake (its on you pal, lol) and will be in a day or two, so everything is falling in to place. Still looking for kits though so please let me know of any as I will be all systems go by the weekend and the kids (and me) are really excited. Any tips for getting it all set up right or anything I should be doing to make the whole thing fairly simple then please let me know.

I am looking for quality Ferret Kits from a strong working strain in the Kent area. I have put out the feelers and there may be a few litters happening in the next few months but I am really looking to get everything set up and established as soon as possible. There seems to be a lack of kits this year, although I guess it is early days yet! Please let me know if you have anything coming up soon or have a litter ready/almost ready to leave. I am happy to travel out of area if need be but preferably somewhere in the south east. Thanks for reading guys, much appreciated. Pat

Thanks for that gouldy, It would make my life a lot easier to keep em outside. Keeps the shed free for the homebrew. lol. yeah they be grand outside mate.. I always kept mine out lol Mine have always been outside too, it helps if you have a couple to keep each other warm when it's cold. I used to chuck a bit of extra bedding in with them when it dipped below 0 but they always seemed to keep booting it out again so I stopped bothering in the end! I am thinking of getting between 2 and 4, that should keep em warm enough sure will mate.. just watch going for a big number with limited

I guess the perfect solution for me would be if someone is giving up the sport but has a complete set up for sale perhaps with a couple of young, well handled ferrets included. Not that I want the earth or anything. I have been trying to find some working kits locally but I just cant seem to find anything at all!

Cheers Greyrake, really helpful. I think that the chicken coup and cover looks the business. I guess I would have to buy a standard hutch to fit in my shed during the colder months though.

I would love to work outside instead of the gloomy open plan office I have been in for the last several years pushing paper around and around and staring at bland figures on a screen all day. I think I have been institutionalised now and just wouldn't know where to start to change things. If I was younger I would do some related study but I have too many responsibilities now and although I manage, time is at a premium. I always feel really envious of you fellas that are happy with their work, I don't think I have ever been in that position. Still the rest of my life is great, I have a great wi

I cant even pick up a paint brush without causing a serious incident, there is no way my family are gonna let me loose with a hammer.

Why not oven prepare some game, I like to do bags of diced game and venison mixed with some stewing steak and give them out at work. Just explain its organic, free range home preduced meat. Play them at their own game. Id see it as a challenge. Dont try to talk them round just show them the light a bit at a time Its not a bad idea but I think someone has done that recently on a bigger scale with horse meat.

Thanks mate, I have sent out a couple of pm's so fingers crossed. Can anyone point me in the direction of where they buy their ferret housing from as some of the bits I have found on the internet don't look man enough for the job. I have had the kids badgering me all morning so any help is appreciated. Pat

My friends think I lost the plot when I got the hunting bug, especially as I am a townie and always have been. The worst thing is I work in an office for a government agency (don't hate me, it pays well and has reasonable hours) and if I ever mention hunting which I have learnt not to do if I can help it, they look at me as though I have crawled out from under a rock and tried to steal their children! Although I have to listen to their endless banging on about last nights soaps or what their favourite celebrity was spotted doing. FFS, it drives me nuts. So when it comes to doing the business

Of course not mate, I misread something and got on my high horse. It was completely my fault, long day and all that. You are right about the last word though BPR!

Sorry mate, didn't see the bit highlighted in red. I was being a bit of a joker really with the bit about the wife. Although she didn't really mind I needed her to help me make the space to put them in and clear out some old bits from the shed, I think you get my meaning.
