  1. Bull terrier to a beautiful little poodle
  2. Hi Guys Thought I would share a picture of my new pup. He arrived on Tuesday weighing 8lb5, unfotunately spending a couple of days in the special unit. I have just been told he can come home and is ok. Bloody Kids. My 3rd and final child I think, well thats what I said last time. Hopefully when everything settles down I will be able to start making plans for next season as this one didnt really happen due to personal issues and work. Cant wait. ATB Pat
  3. Does anyone know if Dave has a special edition planned or anything else to celebrate his amazing achievement? like many of you guys out there I am a massive fan of the mag and cant wait to get my hands on it because it is sometimes the only way I get my fix when I cant get out and about. Pat
  4. I have read The Fell Terrier and found it a bit old fashioned and lacking action in detail. Go for something like Work them Hard by Dave Harcomb. That will hit the spot. ATB Pat
  5. a very honest post mate i hope thing get better for you and your family Thanks mate, appreciated. My wife is now ok-ish and the baby should all be ok when born according to the docs. Still doesnt make me feel any better about the dog though. Like I have said there are plenty of people out there with their own problems, its time to put it behind me and plan for the future in a more responsible way and to learn from my mistakes so as not to repeat them again. Cheers Pat
  6. I passed on my 1st lurcher a couple of weeks ago. The main reasons were the loss of my permission and that my wife had been ill during pregnancy, we were both having a really rough time and after a lot of thought I let her go coming up for her 1st birthday to a great guy off of this site. I will tell you now I will never do it again, after all the work I put in settling her down with the family and hours spent trying to get a bond with her I let the dog down. Its been a few weeks but not an hour goes by when I wish I could turn back the clock. yes, I am still stressed and having a hard time b
  7. Some lovely examples lads, never seen working JRT,s in action. Keep em coming. I know this is a really general question but how do they compare to a fell for all round work? Not trying to hijack the thread just really interested in what they can do and how easy they are to train. Cheers Pat
  8. Cheers staffpeg, I have thought about it for the last couple of weeks and I think it is only fair to the dog. It doesnt mean I have to like it.lol. Pat
  9. Hi Hubbs, no she has none of Mike Browns dogs in her that I know of. She was bred down in kent by a fella who knows his stuff and wanted to keep his Sire line going and bought in the Dam to help him keep the quality high. I think it has worked as I know the pups he kept back are doing well and should start to show themselves next season. Pat
  10. Thanks for the positive comments, she really is a lovely dog and it is with a very heavy heart I am letting her go. I just want her to go to a good home with the care and attention she deserves. Ring or PM if you want any more info. Pat
  11. Thanks for all the interest, I am totally gutted but Jess has gone to a top man from THL. Look after her for me mate. Thanks Chaps Pat
  12. been training for around 3 1/2 years now and you wont beat a good well structured all over plan that includes plenty of compound movements, meaning working large muscle groups in one movement ie deadlifts, squats and overhead presses. Arms grow better when all the muscle groups are worked in proportion. Change the plan around every several weeks to stop the body becoming lazy and the muscles adapting, they need to be restressed to signal growth and continue to develop. Do your cardio, at least to 45 min sessions a week. Then the most neglected part, eat clean and well balanced with plenty of p
  13. Thanks for the comments fellas, it makes all the effort worth while.............................I think.LOL. Pat
  14. I will put some new pics up in a while, all a bit of a sore point at the moment. She is nearly a year and I feel she is starting to mature and I want to get a couple of sessions in before the end of this season but the owner of my permission is dying (imminent) and I have lost the rights, I am struggling to find any where else to take her. She is a bitch from working stock and needs to work, the only land I have now is small and more suited to terrier work. She is a lovely, loyal dog and I feel I am letting her down by not letting her reach her full potential at the moment, especially as she i
  15. Yes mate, I have transport to look further away
  16. c'mon guys, I really could do with some helpful opinions on this one. ATB Pat
  17. I have had Jess taking food from the kids hands to eating my boillies. She is such a stig that if she finds anything edible while we are out she is straight on it. I have come to the conclusion that these lurchers are opportunists and sneak thiefs. Pat
  18. Forgot to ask, do you lads think she is fully grown height wise or is she still gonna keep on growing? I think she has only grown about an inch in the last 10 weeks.
  19. I am down in Kent, Medway/Maidstone area. Pat
  20. Thanks chaps, Dam is a Dave Platts Deer/Grey and Sire is a whippet, all out in the field and doing the business. The only thing that worries me about her is that she tends to like the bigger stuff and has bolted a couple by chance, given chase and cornered them, I have had to pull her away as she is going at them in someones garden, she is only 23" and still quite a slim build, although she is filling out nicely. Pat

  25. My 3 year old springer has broken her front right outside toe during a stroll and rough housing with the lurcher. She is not in any pain unless it is touched or manipulated and still wants to go for a mouch. Am i best letting her rest it or do i wrap it or dress it in some way. I know when it happened to a friends dog a couple of years ago the vet said there isnt a lot that can be done and they usually repair in their own time, is that still the general advice? There is no flesh damage and she is not licking or worried about it to much. Any sensible advice would be welcomed. Thanks in adv
