  1. Great offer mate, you have a PM Pat
  2. Hope she makes a full recovery for you pal. £98 seems pretty reasonable looking at the size of them bad boys. How old is the jill? Have you managed to take a litter from her? Keep us updated on her progress. All the best Pat
  3. Ha, that is how it goes for a while but they pick it up after a couple of tries. Occasionally one of mine will still bring me down, usually just when I am really struggling towards the end or more often when I have just nodded to a couple of pretty ladies and trying not to look like I am blowing out my arse
  4. Definitely, most dogs should be able to go for a decent bit of exercise with out to much trouble. The thing that always surprises me (and I am not judging at all) is that some of the guys keep their dogs whether they are lurchers or terriers in amazing condition ready to do battle at a moments notice, then I look at them and they look like they are ready to drop and couldn't even manage a brisk run up the stairs let alone a jog. lol. if they looked after themselves even a 10th of the way they look after their dogs they would notice a massive difference. Like I said, not judging as everyone ha
  5. Just come back from a cross country 5k with the Springer and Patt, they also have a swim while we are out and about on this particular circuit. It has to be good for them (and me) as it seems to keep their muscles nice and firm and any excess fat to a minimum (not like me) especially in the summer months. As soon as the season is here they are ready to go with out having to worry about conditioning. I don't usually take them longer than 10 k as I think this is about the limit for the Patt but the springer could probably do an ultra marathon!
  6. Quite right mate,in those days you felt like youd achieved the impossible by catching a carp of any size, all you have to do now it seems is turn up and the 30s,40s and 50s are inevitable it really has lost its magic for me one of the final nails in the coffin for me was catching an upper double one day and some guy walked round told me it was 18+ and was called Sally before it was even in the sling....."the day the music died" for me That's what killed it for me too mate, I caught a mid 20 on a known Kentish lake only for a group of fellas to tell me they had all had the same fish at

  8. I fished the Medway around the Maidstone stretch around the late 80's till the early 90's and had plenty of quality hard fighting fish up to the mid 20's, these were fish that most people wouldn't have believed possible to capture let alone existed in their local river on their doorstep. Probably some of the best times I ever had, very little money and had to use bait very carefully due to lack of funds. We would strip the trees for hemp, elderberry and tares when available and use just a few choppies mixed in with a boilie hook bait. Even our tackle was useless but our line and end rigs was
  9. That is a blast from the past, some of those original flavours did me well. Some of them were ultra bird spice, grange, scopex, white chocolate and of course strawberry. I had a good few sessions on carp company's nut mix and HBS's indian spice. Are HBS still going? as I always liked their products although a bit pricey.
  10. You still have the Larkfield lakes or what ever they call them these days just down the M20. They have always been hard lakes with some good fish in them. If I came back to it I would probably get back on one or two of them. Pat
  11. I managed to get mine either through THL or other hunting related type sites, they should at least come from reasonable working stock that way. In Theory.
  12. I think the Deben MK 3 is the only ferret finder on the market. They are lovely to use with some practice, lots of good tutorials on you tube will give you an idea of how good they are. Why not have a look for a 2nd hand MK1 Deben, these can be picked up reasonably and a lot of the guys prefer the older version as it is basically like a Geiger counter (Knocker box) and couldnt be easier to use.
  13. Would that be the lake that decided it was better to replace the old English fish with foreign import 50s ?...........what a shame Have you ever had a walk round Jackos lake on the business park?.....meant to be full of mitten crabs ? But a very nice looking lake I had a look round Jacko's a few years back, not even sure it was jacko's then. As to the previous lake, from what I have heard (been out the game some years now) sounds about right . The place has gone to the dogs.
  14. Everything I make or buy has got green lipped mussel in it, I love it. Ever had a whiff of nutrabaits "sea monster" additive? Makes your eyes water, along with n-butyric acid and balachan I used a fair bit of the Solar squid and octopus back in the day, even knocked up a batch in my mothers kitchen when I was a lad. The place wreaked for days and the drying washing had to be re-washed, the old girl wouldn't speak to me for ages. That was always the killer smell for me, still took a lot of fish on that in the early 90's. lol
  15. ok mate. I have about 40 very similar already, but you can never have enough
  16. How much you want for him? lol
  17. I always used to roll my own bait, me and my mate would split the cost and the work between us. Saved us some serious money over several seasons. I always had a lot of good fish on either maple8 or the Green lipped muscle (man it stank). Years ago I was a member of a certain fishery in the Dartford area, that place opened my eyes in more ways than just the way bait was applied I can tell you. I sat in disbelief as several members arrived, set-up, got the rods out and then proceeded in clubbing together to roll kilos and kilos of bait between them. They had all the paraphernalia with them too

  19. Hi Mate, Have a look at this link. It should give you an idea of the basics and why they are used. http://www.how-to-hunt-rabbit.com/ferreting-equipment.html All the best Pat
  20. Are you sure that's the reason, not that pork is the closest tasting meat to human flesh apparently and you don't want them getting a taste for that. lol. first i've heard, a ferret would be doing well to eat you though lol. nah I know what your saying but I thinks its because pork can be salty mate. Mate, I was just having a laugh. I didn't think that was really the reason for a second. lol

  22. Not really contemplating it for myself mate, they just seemed like they would be an interesting mix. I think J1985 is right though, the bull would have to be from working stock and I doubt there is a lot of that about in this country.
  23. I was out mooching with the dogs and I bumped in to a fella with a full American bull and even though I have seen lots of Staffies and the like this was the first American Bull I have seen in the flesh. I noticed how well muscled he was and was surprised by his length of leg so I started wondering if they would make a decent lurcher or if anyone has already used one either has a lurcher X or just as a pure bull? I know they make excellent guard dogs but I am unsure if they have any attributes useful for hunting in the field, just to satisfy my own curiosity really! Pat
  24. I would pull him out now pal, it sounds as if she is ready to pop. The Hob will kill the kits and try and mate her again otherwise. Best of luck with the litter. Pat
  25. Very generous deal Taz, cant believe some one hasnt ripped ypu arm off already. I am considering moving down your way with all the permission up for grabs . Hope you find someone trustworthy enough to take it on. Pat
