  3. self employed electrician.supposed to be installing flood lights on an industrial unit. dont think so in this weather. they can borrow my lamp until the weather picks up.
  4. i will be travelling to cornwall two or three times [go on holiday three times down there] first time in june. if you cant find any nearer you by then i may be able to get hold of some and meet you on the way down.[ always stop at gordano services] so let me know if you dont get sorted.
  5. i would think ratreeper is right mate. i have worked at several places where you had three or more levels of pay for the same job.some depended on when you joined the company others on how how much shit you had on the end of your nose, but i dont think you can do much about it nowadays as you will have agreed a rate of pay when you started and they can hold you to it.
  6. whereabouts in the southwest are you mate.
  7. i usually plant them even if they havent got sprouts and they have been okay but i suppose it depends how cold and wet it is after you plant them.

  9. i was one of the people who joe public reported for badger digging. i was rabbiting on permission near thirsk. took them 3months to declare INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE for a conviction. not no evidence whatsoever, and now my van reg is tagged and we get pulled regularly whilst going about our legitimate business ,so if you think doing nothing wrong will save you from them youre mistaken.thirsk wildlife officer CLAIRE MAYES isnt bothered if you did it ,just if she can convict you of it. I also noticed that the animals friend john craven and the rspca officer didnt mention what happened to the two he

  12. i have just bought seven point of lay warrens. put them in the chicken house when i first got them and fed and watered them in here for a couple of days then let them find their own way down the ramp into the run.problem is they now dont go back into the house to roost they just huddle up in a corner of the run all night piled on top of each other. tried putting some food on the steps of the ramp which they will eat no problem but they just seem scared of going into the house . be grateful for any advice. these are not the first hens i have had but they are the first point of lays ive bought.

  15. but can your lurcher go through cover like a terrier. it all depends on the land you are working. on the dales we use lurchers ,but when hedge bottoming we take a terrier[ my bedlington bitch] who is pretty good around the sets and is cock on marking.

  18. my biggest bag was 81 up at malham back in the early nineties. this was two men and two beddy lurchers plus ferrets. we used to get 50 or 60 most times back in the good old days but they are long gone up there now. it was easy land to work that was covered in rabbits so it wasnt hard to get good bags.i still go to a few places up the dales but lucky to get 20 now but what a beautiful place to catch a few bunnies. its not the numbers i miss, because sometimes it was more like a days work than pleasure, but i do miss seeing the lurcher coursing on good open land. alot of what we do now is hedge
  19. i once went ferreting in that area, was doing all right until two irate women told me it was a nature reserve,,, taxii. a hasty exit was made
  20. last trip tomorrow i reckon. unless any of my permissions forces my hand to clear some more. bolted two last week that were only 4 or 5 weeks old. dont want to spend half my days digging to these.
  21. i think its the cheating and the theatrics of footballers that gets on peoples tits mate not the game itself. you wouldnt see a boxer throw himself on the canvas if the punch had missed, or a rugby player dive on the floor if someone touched his face. these two sports are still honest unlike football
  22. if youre using an 8foot collar with a 15 foot box you need to more or less half what it says on the dial.and if youre using a15foot collar with an 8 foot box you need to double what it says on the dial.hope that makes it a little bit clearer.
