when Gyp was a year old, we were roadwalking for up to 20+ miles a week, a few miles before work on weekdays, then on a sunday we'd walk the 4 miles to a friends house to get a lift to the pub, and then 4 miles back from theirs a few hours later. plus he had an hour or so each day pottering about on the fields here. it did him no harm whatsoever, and turned him into a fantastically fit creature for the winter. f****d my knee right up though Gyp at 16 months...

i've never heard of that in ferrets! it is reasonably common in cats, its called polydactylism. the cats are also refered to as mitten cats, or Hemingway cats (the island Ernest Hemingway lived on has a population of polydactyl cats, descended from a couple he was given). a friend of mine had a polydactyl tabby tom kitten, he had 6 toes on each front foot, 5 toes on each back foot (one more than normal). he looked like he had thumbs, and could actually pick things up using the extra toe as a thumb. cats with extra toes almost always produce whole litters of kittens with extra toes. there

got home from work tonight, fed the kittens, and picked up my .22 to go pop off a couple of rats from my back hedge. i walked round the back of my bathroom, and my heart stopped. the doors of the hutches my 2 jills live in were wide open naturally, i panicked a little (a lot). both the jills came to me as strays last year, neither of them strangers to roughing it. one of the boys i've had from 12 weeks got out while i was on holiday last year, and it took 4 days to find him. i instantly thought "shit. i'll never see them again!" i shone my torch around, and saw nothing. no noises. then i lo

they'll always surprise you... my old jill Lucky used to be a bit nippy. one of my friends came round, and wanted to see the old girl (back when i just had her on her own). Amy picked her up, and before i could say anything, she had Lucky on her shoulder i was poised in the "ready to swiftly remove ferret from best friends nose" position, when Lucky proceeded to lick amy's cheek! damn, was i relieved! yup, make sure your ferts are friendly, and the batteries in your finder (if you use one) are full! and don't forget to have a pen & paper handy, for giving out your phone number

Baytrill is a liquid antibiotic for small animals. and it tastes vile. i know this as one of my stinkers was prescribed it for a nasty abcess... when i gave him his dose he shook his head, and most of it ended up in my mouth... :sick: Synulox, now that's the best antibiotic for ferrets. they love the taste of it. crush the tablets up, mix with warm water, and give it with a syringe. piece of cake. and it will actually shift an abcess. um, keeping on topic, no, i don't give my ferrets malt paste, or any other suplement. and i've kept ferrets my whole life. went down the dry foo

i pretty much gave up telly when i moved in here - it's just me, the dog & the cat most of the time, and i end up sat on the pc all night! telly doesn't get a look-in, except for watching the odd video. just be careful if you completely give up (i.e. get rid of) your telly. i have a couple of friends who don't have TV's, and bloody TV licensing won't leave them alone - they just can't believe people can live without a telly! they've had their houses searched multiple times, and still get license reminders

right! the game is very much on here! my cat has had kittens, and since they were born i've kept her shut up in the house. about a week after i confined her, noises started to eminate from my back hedge by the railway line. when i've been taking the dog out the back gate for a walk, there's been a commotion in the ivy next to the gate... i put it down to rabbits, as they were living in there last year. but......... this "bustle in the hedgerow" sure as hell wasn't "a springclean for the Mayqueen" !! :guitar2: i nodded off on the sofa this afternoon, so i went out an hour or so -
