  6. Some of you lads are tight arses give the lad some slack, it alright taking the piss but we need to introduce people into shooting sports generally . surely someone on here will give him the opportunity to tag along with them , or does all your ring pieces squeak when you walk Just an observation from the previous posting by Rikkijunior where he was after air gun permission around Skegness at least these lads are making any effort however to get into the sport . 7. If your going down the structural high seat route. A tip construct it out of protomised timber and use bulldog teeth washers and threaded bar. And dont forget to treat the timber with preservative each year or they will wrot in a forest environment.( Note we use creosote which still can be got although its a banned substance licienced users can still use it) ( dont use the water based shite it washes off) These have been dismantled and resited now numerous times and are now 11 years old and nearly as good as the day I first made them. Cheers Stu P.S its important also to have ground anchor
  8. Yep I constructed frames in kit form all numbered and transported 2 full high seats on the roof rack on my Rangie all flat packed then just like MFI used to sell them, ( Looked like Beverly hill billies taking them up the motorway) only thing is it took 2 days to put each one up including ground pegs and stainless retainer wires. Originally designed by a structural engineer Warren girder construction all timber and threaded bar Double seated as well, Its even got its own urinal composing of a funnel connected to a hose thats fastened to one of the stiles,
  9. Molasses mixed with corn works well brings them for miles to the spot. Why not plant some sweet smelling floribunda roses in a large container surrounded by chicken wire cage as the flowers and shoots protrude through the wire its a constant source of food, that also brings them from miles away. Supplementary food such as wild brambles planted in the area and wild raspberries work as well along with ivy if you provide a sustainable food source that they like and they do then you create whats called a coffee meeting house were they all come to. P.S I would only use this method of de

  13. I think some of you have memories that are short lived. May I remind you of labours knee jerk reaction in banning hand guns some years ago, we now cant compete evenly in certain olympic events due to now not having the facilities in respect to target pistol shooting, neither can we own any semi automatic firearms. also restriction on automatic shotguns, Not withstanding banning fox hunting, I somehow think that anyone who votes labour likes enjoying pain because its a bit like shooting yourself in your own foot it hurts big time. also its a bit like banging your heeed against a brick wal

  16. Skin it and cut and remove as much material as you can from the skull , Place it in a large vessel (Pan) with a lid immerse it so the water level is just under the coronets and boil untill the remaining flesh starts to come away from the bone slightly. keep adding hot water from a kettle to the pot to keep levels constant but becarefull not to over boil it as the nasal bone will part company from the skull so you need to time it right or you can make a mess of it. I should add theres no set time as it depends on the age of the trophy being boiled a young buck can take as little as 6 minutes
  17. or fingers, as it burns. when handling hydrogen peroxide at strengths of 35% always ware protective gloves and glasses to protect your eyes from splashes its dangerous stuff. If you do get any splashes on your skin get plenty of water on the area straight away as it acts fast. Cheers Stu
  18. Open invitation to those who wish to get into stalking who are dedicated and sincere. Some of you are aware of the work exchange program that both myself and partner have been running in Dumfrieshire, my partner being the regional DMQ assesor for Southern Scotland, where we have individuals that we take out or let stalk un supervised depending on competence or ability ,(This may change next year if the proposed requirement in respect to qualifications comes into effect from SNH) This being free of change but conditional to applicants volunteering in helping us to clear rides of bracken an
  19. wet stone has served me well for over 40 years don't think ill bother with anything else now It serves me well whilst I am at home as well if I have all the time in the world to pratt about using the stone and stropping it up afterwards but out in the field I need an instant edge as its used regular. Cheers Stu
  20. Only problem is a wet stone takes some carrying in the field and unless your proficient in stropping it up in the palm of your hand after the blades been on the stone ,plus all the other gadgets you would need to carry in the field like oil etc for the stone and a cloth and a detoxing kit before putting it to use to comply with FSA hygiene rules and contamination, Its a lot quicker for me in the field to carry a flat steel and if my knife looses an edge due to catching hard tissue a couple of strokes on the steel and it got back its usable edge. Dont forget my knifes not there to be pretty an
