A lot of what you say I agree with you but theres a lot more to deerstalking than being safe and pulling a trigger on a deer , thats the easy bit you need to be able to identify possible diseases just as a start inc the symptoms of anthrax ,If you touched a deer with anthrax your own life is at risk as its crosses the animal human barriers exceedingly quickly , I gave that as a example although its never been found in wild deer in this country YET but you could be the unlucky one that Doers LOL Theres a lot more to it that I could possibly encompass in a reply to a post and its a life tim

As long as your accompanied your OK or have the equivalent quals in that Country its the unaccompanied in this country who haven't got the DSC1 who will feel the tight pinch of SNH legislation.

No other than opinions of events expressed opinions of my partner. All Forest companies in Scotland are now geared to only allow those on the lease with the higher qualification of DSC2 . Home office guidelines to chief constables and how they are implementing applications indicate that DSC1 or training for it being the accepted format. I am not saying I agree with all this but it is in my opinion going to happen, If you value your stalking and wish to continue I suggest those who have rebelled against the system comply relatively sharpish as well. regards Stu

The SNH held off on implementing the Wayne act a few years ago on BASCS lobbying and they would revue it again in 2014 if sufficient numbers took up the training however I am informed that these numbers and uptake in Scotland are exceptionally short of whats required so to act is likely to be enforced. To put it bluntly in the coming months unless you have DSC1 min the chances of you stalking in Scotland will be zilch. My opinion is and its my opinion not fact that to equate a balance England will follow suite the system is geared up for it. Home Office are sending out advice to Police Force

FD Just for the record I am far from a snob but obvious you are wound up about the paper qual thing , Also for the record I along with my partner who is a regional assessor for DMQ try to assist those who want to get into stalking and are struggling through whatever reason and we devote our time completely voluntary and also take them out on our leases with the forest owners consent as he is aware of what we are trying to achieve. LOL. unfortunately it seems to be a general trait, called bone collecting, and has nothing whatsoever to do with deer management unless if carried out in a correct manner .Decent bucks are being removed from the areas and in some cases leaving either yearling bucks or older animals that have gone or going back, left to service the grossly abundance of does that have been untouched or little controlled in the cull program through lack of interest . All bullets have a potential to ricochet as soon as they leave the barrel irrespective of type but some are more prone to others, and all are relevant to what angle its fired from and how it strikes the object it ricochets off. and it will be unlikely to follow the true line of aim ,they could rise high ,to the left or to the right or even deflect downwards all pending on the circumstances of the angles., this can occur within a short distance to the firing position or a greater distance, in other words there is no definitive answer to the original posters question. Fresh silage sandwiched with mallisis and sheep nuts set out in a sheep manger with a roof on to keep the rain off takes some beating but it takes a few weeks for roe to accept it. also peanut butter works well but it also attracts field mice so needs a cone cowl to stop the mice getting to it. But this is deer culling not stalking. Cheers Stu

Are they news to me that. my mate put two hundred weight down thinking they would come and munch them they was there that long some 4 months and turned green without a nibble until they eventually rotted and the slugs got them. I am still laughing at his efforts LOL

Welcome and a well put together questionable post. Most of my stalking is North of the border in Scotland where syndication places are more finacially realistic than Southern counties where prices command figures that you would expect to see on a MONOPOLY board, Its all relative to earnings I think generally in a given area and it shows down south, unless you have contacts or friends in the stalking world you will need to contact and arrange a loan with your bank manager unless you have loads of sponnies to spare that is. If it looked like a pearly grey slug on the inner side of the rear haunch its most likely to have been a gland. removing of it by cutting it out is normal preparation prior to cooking it. If you had the oppurtunity to have inspected the mesenteric nodes on the viscera you may then can see any indication there that the animal is free from disease as it here it shows first indication of tumours that may be present in the rest of the body as well as the nodes on ther medistinal strap on the lungs. Other nodes portal on the liver and at the back of the throat are also indicators . Regards
